Some Nice boats in the marinas

Some Nice boats in the marinas

For this post I am going to share some shots of some of the nice watercraft in the marinas on Popes Island here in New Bedford.

Popes Island is one of two Islands crossed by three Bridges between New Bedford and Fairhaven that I visited a few times during Spring and Summer, I haven't been there for a few weeks as now most of the marinas are empty, but for today going back to warmer days when the marinas were fill with all kinds of water craft.

Now these shots were all taken early morning so longer exposures and using a tripod and starting with this shot, with nice warm pastel colors in the sky some cool boats and reflections

More reflections and Boats of all types, now @barski jokes with me that I must be a sailor with the photos I take of boats, but I have spent very little time on boats out on the water other than the odd ferry trip over the years in various places, so I don't foresee me having a boat and becoming a sailor in my future.

How about you?

Are you a sailor?
Have any interest in having a boat, or do you have one now?
What sort of boat do you have or would you want to have?

Another selection of boats

Of course the other boats that are very common here are the commercial fishing boats

New Bedford is apparently the busiest commercial fishing port in the country.

Now as for the questions I asked before how about me, well I think I did answer that, but perhaps the only boat I could afford would be one of these dinghies LOL

And that’s all folks

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Haha I have never dreamt or thought of being a sailor or having a boat! In fact, I can’t swim. I only started learning how to swim two weeks ago and I believe it’s one criteria to be a sailor. However, I enjoy entering boats but I always wish the cruise ends well because I CANT SWIM 😂

My wife cannot swim either so she does not like going on Boats, I can swim and used to swim a lot so that doesnt bother me

Good luck learning to swim

we are so lucky with our sunrises here @tattoodjay this morning it was like sherbet orange and it really was amazing shining through the dark grey clouds.

I always find winter sunrises and sunsets are more crisp and often colorful
This mornings was nice and colorful I caught some photos of it over a pond here

I'm always shooting video, so usually get my stills from that, I need to get the camera out more often, we've always wanted to set up a camera, maybe like a gopro, to let it run one entire sun/moon cycle of a day to catch the tide and moving light and such. It'd make a great longform video with music. One day.

I agree, the colour feels 'sharper' this time of the year, tho we have some amazing almost gaudy sunsets in high summer.

I have done a few time lapses both with my camera and go pro, but never a full day cycle, that would be cool to do :)

The sky is painted such brilliant colors this morning! What a view to wake up to!

I don't own a boat right now, but that doesnt stop me from loving the water.i would rather be on or in the water most days, except when its cold!

The commercial fishing boats make awesome subjects and photos! Good morning!

This morning I was heading to the supermarket but I happened to take my camera bag thinking it was to cool to get photos but fir some reason I grabbed it was some gorgeous colors in the sky so stopped by the pond a beautiful start to the day

I do love seeing the boats but have never considered getting one

I love the look and tradition of the old time sailboats, but if I could afford a boat, it would be a liveaboard capable of ocean travel :) ...

I think I feel the same if I had one I would want one I could live on and travel the world

That first photo almost looks like a painting. The colors seem a little fuzzy like a watercolor. The effect is really cool. Beautiful shots. I know I keep saying this, but I am really starting to get a bug to visit the coast seeing all of these photos.

I did a more painterly edit for that first one

And you know I do love the coast here

thanks ever so much, I've just noticed that you use the same camera as myself, do you find that the Sony seems to be a dust magnet? Mine wants cleaning so much more than my old canon cameras.

Hahaha, a lot of fun one can have in a dinghy @tattooday let alone getting them into nice little tight spots that those fancy yachts would have not hope of squeezing into.
I just have to myself out of bed at 4:30 for sunrise shots, your photos are absolutely beautiful.

thats true about he dinghies, and some use them for fishing as well I have seen that here

I am still getting up at 4 even in winter when the sunrise isn't till around 7 Am at the moment, its just been a habit for so long I cannot break it

Early mornings became your favorite time and gave birth to the style of photography that is now unmistakable.
Oh, how I love that last one! I don't know if you consider it the best but I'm delighted with it. I feel warmth when I look at it and wish I were there.
As for the boats, I've always liked them, and they're very photogenic. But I'm not comfortable (I mean I'm afraid) when I'm in a boat that goes on the water.

Since I was in my early teens I used to get up at 4Am everyday at that time to go run Cycle and swim training for Rugby, but that habit has stuck with me of waking early even if the exercising hasn't lOL

The last photo seems to be the most popular one :)

I dont mind being out on a boat, but my Wife has had bad experiences in the water and also has a fear of going out on one

Ah, I see, Rugby training. I had to imagine you did Rugby, in the place where it was the best in the world... Can you believe that Romania was once pretty good in Europe, certainly not like the countries playing in the five nations (now six nations) tournament.

For sure when I was growing up every boy played rugby and wanted to play for the All blacks our national team so some of us trained hard

I did get selected for the NZ under 16 team when I was 14 but then had a injury that put me out of sport for a year and never got back into at the level I was before

I remember watching Romania play in the World Cup on tv a couple of times and they played pretty well

You were in the NZ under 16 national team! Impressive, I think how much training you did as a youngster and of course, you were very physically fit!

Were being the keyword, far from fit these days

and strictly speaking no I wasn't in the under 16 Team, the Injury was before the first training camp and games and I never recovered enough to play in the team

Your timing was perfect to take these photos and get these colors in the photos.

I love boats too, but I think unless you are going to spend a lot of time on board, it can become an expensive hobby to have.

and as a friend who has a boat describes it a boat is a hole in the water you pour money into LOL
