A few shops and businesses around New Bedford
Good Morning, I hope you're well.
Today I will share a few photos of businesses around New Bedford, MA, taken on various walks.
Starting with this photo of the Zeiterion Theatre. it was originally opened as the State Theatre in 1923, it was later renamed the Zeiterion and operates as a landmark non-profit performing arts center.
After closing back in 2023 for a $37 million dollar renovation project, it reopened earlier this year.

This is the Fisherman's Seafood Market on Pope's Island; the red LObster on the roof always catches my eye when I am there
Known by the motto "Where Fishermen Go For Seafood!", the market provides local catch straight from the dock with no middleman. Seafood comes directly from local vessels and the Fleet Fisheries facility, offering native North Atlantic catch including lobster, scallops, tuna, swordfish, and crab

And in downtown, we have the New Beige Restaurant. It is named after the affectionate local nickname for New Bedford and features a warm, inviting atmosphere near the city's historic waterfront.
I haven't been in there yet, but apparently it focuses heavily on accessible comfort foods like pizza, subs, calzones, and classic casual entrees

This is the Spinner Publications office I swung by it as I saw online they had recently added the art in front of it

And I walk past this building many times when I cross over from the port into the historic district.

And I so often say about places I share photos of that I haven't been in there yet; this one is an exception: Tia Maria's European Cafe. I have had breakfast there, and it was great

I bet that theater is pretty amazing on the inside. I love how old towns have theaters like that which look like nothing special on the outside, but then you go inside and they are so lavish and oppulent!

The light on these buildings reminds me of the textures of buildings in rdr2. Interesting to see the lobster on the roof...only in America. 😂👍
Cool storefronts 👍 Tia Maria's is a classic look. I like the tattoo place because it looks old timey. The signs feel like gold leaf like they used to use on glass and signs but aren't. But the do capture the feel.
What a lovely way to showcase the businesses and spots around New Bedford. I really enjoy that you share not just the photos, but also a bit of the history behind each place. The Zeiterion Theatre is impressive: opened in 1923 and later renamed, plus that $37 million renovation. It must be well worth visiting now that it's reopened.

The New Beige Restaurant got me curious, especially with its name based on the city's affectionate local nickname. Good to know they focus on accessible comfort foods.
