Hey Rockstars,

I hope you all had a lovely Xmas and enjoying the holidays with the family. Time for another addition of Starbits and Cold pIzza.

Like most Rising Star players, I have been logging in regularly to start my missions during the holidays. So I can keep progressing. So here's the latest on Rising Star and

So let's get on with it.

Today's Tip: Buying Cards VS. Buying Packs

Staring off we all have the question, what's best investments? Buying individual cards, and knowing exactly what you going to get or taking a gamble and buying a pack.

Each pack costs 10k starbits (approximately 3.5 Hive) and contains one rare card or higher. Most rare cards are pretty powerful, level up your player stats and cost a pretty penny. The best rare card I got from a pack so far is Rose Petal and the worst i got was lute. Let's take a closer look.

Like anything its always a risk, you win some and lose some. I think it was @Foxton who said to me on discord when I started, it all depends on your playing style. You can play it safe and save up for the cards you want or take the gamble and buy a pack.

For me, as a player with very few cards, I'm willing to take the gamble. What I lose in value on some packs I will gain on others. As I become stronger and progress through the game, and also collected most of the common cards, I'll make more calculated purchases.

What's your card strategy? We would love to hear about it!

My Progress Update:

New Cards & Missions:

Pack Opening:

Was a bit disappointing. Not as great as my last pack. But at least my luck points are on the rise.

New missions

image.png

Still struggling with those cold slices! Found a few, and made some progress! Unlocked The Saturday Night Headline and now can access Local Gig Circuit! Whoop Whoop! The only problem is I don't have enough fans to play the missions.
So my mission this week is to improve my deck and decrease my ego once I hit level 30.

Stats are looking great!

  • Rank: 258 (from 283)
  • Level: 29
  • 24 Cards
  • 336 permanent fans
  • 142 Luck
  • 659 Skills
  • 7 IM
  • Total Missions: 606

Ranking is improving and making progress on those Starbits for another new pack.

What's your progress like? Got Any Hot Tips?

I'm keen to connect with other players! Pop me a line to let me know how you doing, or any hot tips you'd like to share!

Till next time, keep on rocking.

Much love from Sunny Cape Town, @Mimismartypants

My method is to buy many unique cards from the market. Works pretty well. And do the 5 hour missions while I'm going to bed or can't get on for a while.

Thanks for sharing with us. So you reckon its a better investment than buying packs? Packs are risky, but you do stand a chance to score those unicorns for next to nothing. And I'm sure you start collecting loads of duplicates this way!

Lady luck is not kind to me and so I don't like to use packs. If you and Lady luck get along, go for packs.

So far I bought 4 packs and scored 2 epic cards. I would have had to save a while to buy those. So I guess its win some or lose some. In the long run they all add up! I think it just comes down to how risky a player you are.

I buy on the market per price divided by attribute. The lowest the better of course. But for new players, I would recommend sticking to a type of an instrument and then doing only lessons about that one, to catch up with ego.

That's a great tip. Thanks for sharing! My next topic was going to be on lessons so this is perfect! Can you shed some light here?

  1. Do you think unique instruments cards count more towards lessons skill points than duplicates?
  2. Which instrument set do you think yields the most ROI in terms of collecting and gaining skills points?

  1. I think it depends on the amount of luck the instruments have. So having duplicated cards also help, per instrument type. It all depends on how many cards you have of a certain instrument type and how cheap you got them.

  2. On this one it depends on when you got in... because some cards will eventually appreciate (once they get discontinued, as they all got distributed). For me, the biggest class of instrument is the guitars. I know for many others that started around the same time as me, its the same. But I also know others that have other instruments as the most common ones. It depends on the trading you do also... in finding the cheapest ones.

Awesome thanks for this. Makes lots of sense!! I didn't think luck had a direct impact here. But on look at this closer, I'm favouring the production instruments. Purely because I can pick them up for cheaper in terms of the luck they carry.

It's my Day 3 in the game. Willing to buy cards or booster packs (with discount), but first I need to level up for the free cards.

Welcome to the show!! It's addictive isn't it?

Yeah, i would suggest busking a bit and unlocking those free cards. Good luck and enjoy!
