I’ve always ranted about how my department has made me lose faith in their ability to deliver because of their constant postponement of every event they organize. Well, today, my school itself just redefined disappointment. I am FURIOUS.
Remember the final year defense I said I did today in my hive goals and strategies to achieve them? It turns out, I jinxed it. Hilarious right.
This is a our FINAL presentation and to make things worse, the notice only came out this morning.

This was the notice we got from our department. THIS MORNING. AN HOUR TO START OF THE PRESENTATION.
Early birds would’ve been at the venue already to get settled in and wait for the rest of us late comers to arrive. Man on days like this, you’re just glad you’re a late comer.
Finally, my consistency might be hindered by unforeseen events such as inactivity due to illness or like I mentioned, a busy work schedule in my National Service workplace.
Lol now I feel like a prophet saying this only 4 hours ago. I’ve never been mad to be right as now. FUCK!
Our graduation has already been delayed by 4 months and on the day we wrap everything up and call it done, this comes up, please😤
Since this year started, it’s been strike upon strike upon strike. They come back, and give you long enough until you’re just about to become a student again, and bam! they strike again.
Everyone is confused now. A handful of people (including me) believe and hopes there won’t actually be a postponement. That this will mean that we’ll simply submit our complete project works via email and head home. Then there’s the hopeless minority who believe we’ll have to stay on campus until lecturers return from their strike and schedule a new date for the project defense.
We thought it all ends today. But the universe gave us a big middle finger.
Not until now, I never knew that there are other Universities outside Nigeria that go on strike too, ASSU just called off our own strike over here after about 6months of delay... it's so pathetic that for a 4 or 5year course, students tend to spend about 6 to 8 years in the University.
I’ve read a lot about the ASUU of Nigeria. It seems you guys have it even worse than we do. It’s very bad. I think I read an article from someone from Nigeria one of these days and he was complaining of how the ASUU strikes set them back by almost 2 years. Ah yes! That was Monioluwa, but we talked outside Hive.
Yes o, the ASUU strike here in Nigeria is really getting out of hands and our Federal Government seem to be doing nothing about it. This one that has just been called off is as a result of a pending Court order obtained against ASUU.
This is the kinda world we live in, over here in the Nigerian Federal Universities

o dear, things like this gives us reasons to hate school, but we can't help going to school,cause with our today's society, we really need education and a degree at that. If I has millions of Naira maybe I would have opted for a private University. anyways I will sure get my degree. Surely.
Most stuff you learn at school you can learn way better on the internet with the right mindset . But that degree still seems to convince some people that you are qualified though.
Sure. Most especially in my society, one can't get a well paid job without some sort of degree, no matter ones level of experience.
What!!!, oh this is really bad, I can’t imagine this bro, completion of school too and this kind of stress all over, hmmm really feeling sorry for you guys bro, just look at how stressful campus is even when all students are available and now only you guys are left there without doing nothing. Thanks man. We received an update 2 hours ago that we’ll be required to send our ppts to our project coordinator (Mr Sunyazi) for assessment. If we’re lucky, that’s where it ends and there’ll be no further stress with a new scheduled presentation.

We eventually had the presentation. They sent another update in the middle of the day telling us they grouped us the senior lecturers, so each student should meet their supervisor to see how their supervisor wants to assess them. The supervisor I was put under made us come and do the defense to his face around 3pm. But other supervisors just asked their students to send the power point slides and that was all.

Woaaahh strikes happening there too???? Some Naija friends had months off. They started working in the meantime.
Just try to get that degree somehow, the actual education you can give yourself on the internet. I say that having gone to one of the most expensive schools in USA. Still paying that shit off 😂

That’s the thing with our lecturers. They don’t go on strikes long enough for you to pick up a job. They go for like a month, negotiate and come into an understanding with the government, and when you come back to school and spend a few months, they strike again. It’s become frustrating really.
I know that’s right😂 Lot’s of people walking around with degrees and nothing to show for it.

I don’t speak twi myself, but my twi speaking friends say it doesn’t make sense. They suggest that if it really is twi, maybe you wanted to say” nyi3 menya nu ye” meaning “what I have is enough”. I’ll tru to find out more for you. It might be Ga and not twi. So I’ll ask around to see if any Ga person can translate it.
My school story isn’t an interesting…life and education kind of started after school for me. I hope you can go back soon then if it’s annoying.
If it’s not Twi it’s probably Ewe, the singer is Ewe but he I heard he sings in Twi and Ga too sometimes. Ah so not everyone can speak Twi? I just wanna learn whatever I hear in songs but can’t find a dictionary that understands Twi OR Ewe. Hausa on google translate is almost ok. Do you speak another language besides English?
Yeah man, not all Ghanaians speak twi. A lot of people outside Ghana think that though. There are twi dictionaries in the play store though. I just checked.
Yeah I speak Dagbani. It’s relatively less popular, but among the top 4 spoken languages in Ghana. We dominate the North, the largest “kingdom” here:)

Haha you can’t. Take me who’s been in Ghana all my life, I only understand the language of the people where I was raised(Dagbani). I tried to learn twi when I went to boarding school in High School, but it didn’t work because the school I attended didn’t have a lot of twi-speaking people there. So now, I’m learning a little in University(which is almost over). Just pick one and focus on it. I’d recommend twi, as that is the widest spoken local language here.
