Market Friday | Due Dates, Fruits, and Bubble Gum

Due Dates

What happens during the first week of the month? Judith comes. Who is Judith, you'd ask? Well, the question must not be "who", but "what".

Judith, the dreaded monthly visitor -- a.k.a. "due date". When your salary comes but it barely has the chance to stay in your account because of the dues you need to pay. LOL.

Anyway, to settle some payables, I decided to just go to the mall because (1) our bank and remittance center are both there, and (2) because of free basement parking. It is just too hot these days and any way I can keep my car away from the sun is very welcome to me.

Let's buy some fruits

My girl wanted to get some bananas because she wanted to make banana milkshake so we went to the fruits section of the hypermarket.

Before we got to the bananas, we found these mangoes of different varieties from India. I am just familiar with the badami type which I really like especially when it is still green. Hmmm, so crunchy and just enough sourness.

There wasn't any badami variety available though so I only got a piece of this one hoping that it would be good. I have a bottle of fermented fish at home that pairs well with green mangoes. Yuumm, just thinking of it got me salivating. Okay, here's a photo of it as I enjoy the crunchy goodness at home.

Cherries, anyone?

Next to the mangoes are these shiny, red cherries. I very seldom buy these. They're too pricey. LOL. It's already 40% off today but I still did not buy.

Okayy... photo ops! 😁

Bubble Gum

My children have started their bubble gum obsession. They have a who-can-make-the-biggest-bubble-challenge so they come with me only because they want to buy bubble gum. Here, Little Miss was looking for her favorite Bazooka bubble gum but it was not available so they took big Chuppa Chups bubble gum lollies instead.

Self Service Checkout

Time to go!

I intentionally did not get any cart because having a cart/basket would make us take anything that we really don't need to buy. Instead, we only took what we really came for and I just enlisted the help of my two assistants to carry the items we bought.

One thing I love about this hypermarket is the self-service checkout counter especially when I only have a few items to by. For some reason, especially during the times when there are many customers I find that queuing at the express counter takes longer. Besides I find it amusing to scan my own items. LOL.

Who doesn't love cherries....and which country doesn't break the bank to buy them? Those look delicious. This was such a fun read @arrliinn. You title definitely grabbed my attention. Due dates - ouch, despite the chuckle

Due Date??? You had me looking twice! Or maybe three times. I have to agree with you! If I have a short list of items to purchase, I never take a cart. That is dangerous territory to wander. I am glad to hear you are a homeschooling mom too. I think that people don't know what they are missing when they don't, but, I also believe that not everyone should do it. :)

It evolved into a special relationship with your children. Of course, that is only my opinion. Every day, in almost everything we do with them, is a life lesson. Even the fun. I should say, especially the fun. Sharing the day-to-day helps prepare them for the future! Thank you for sharing this experience with them and you!

Cherries? What are they? Yikes! They are so high, I run past them before they call me !!
