Returning Market Friday

avatar

Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, that's me!!) Join me as we share our markets across the globe. I always look forward to seeing what you send me! It is amazing to see the different markets and cultures of our friends here from many corners of the world, here on Hive. I hope you will also take a few moments to check some of the post from places you may have never gone to before.

I would like to take a moment to shoutout @Barbara-Orenya from Annecy, France. She is wonderfully talented, innovative, artistic, a free-spirited woman that writes whimsical words and creates every fantasy.

But, her talent is so spectacular, so understated at times, over-the-top wonderful at other times. Please stop in and see her. She is yet another unappreciated talent and she has a new community called #FeelGoodCommunity which you can find here! It is a place to appreciate happiness made of simple pleasures, and highlight the joyful and enjoyable aspects of life.

Check it out! Tell her Denise sent you.

Who doesn't love to see what they will be selling in some foreign market, shopping in places I have never been to and some, never even heard of. There is always a curiosity attached to foreign ingredients, different produce or any product sold. So, yes! I would love to see yours! Don't forget to take photos wherever you happen to be shopping - whether it be the grocery, art galleries, wherever money is exchanged for a service or for merchandise. Don't forget to post in the #MarketFriday Community and mention @dswigle Or if you have posted to a different community, you may use the tag #MarketFriday and mention my name. Thank you!

Please leave the link to your post on here so it can easily be found by others. They will all be in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you! ❤

This week I thought I would do a different Market Friday than normal. Although I'm pretty sure we toe the line on what normal is. Instead of shopping for merchandise, I found myself needing to return some two by fours that have been bought and not used. We all have that special someone in our house that buys ahead of time for a project that never seems to get done. I had a large stack of wood that was purchased for a project. One that never got done. Did I say that already?

lowes2.jpg

The wood has been stacked in a special corner to keep it straight and will not work or get dirty, because we know how special this project is but never has been done. After looking at this wood for approximately one and a half to two years, I decided that it needed to be returned. I took the seats out of my van and stacked on the wood in there. I drove the five 5.8 miles to my local Lowe's and wondered how I was going to approach them about this wood that was approaching old age.

lowes 3.jpg

I slid it within his reach and held my breath. They checked the wood and said they would send someone out to my car to get the rest of the wood. Seriously! How nice was that!?

Score!

lowes 4.jpg

I put the piece of wood up on the counter as the worker walked out. He took one look at it and determined that because they still sold that there, there was no problem taking it back and he would send somebody out to unload my car.

Wow! I was thinking I was going to have to do it.

lowes 5.jpg

Then along came my superhero with his big helper. I watched it as it came barreling down the aisle, looking for me.

1 2.png

I raised my hand and waved. I am over here, I said. Oh, my! He is coming to take it away.

lowes 6.jpg

No Stress. They pulled it all out and loaded it up. Where were they when I needed them back home? I hope they come with a warranty. I wouldn't want these guys to get broken and not repaired.

20180531_100050_001.jpg

They buzzed down that aisle and stop midway, jumped right out and began restocking the merchandise immediately!

Time waits for no one

Ribbet collage.jpg

Pro services took and counted my lumber. Then they did the unthinkable. They paid cold hard cash for lumber that was sitting in my storage shed getting ready to collect dust. Well, now that I have extra money, let's stroll around the store and see if we can find something pretty for the garden! I know I can do it!

Win-Win

20180531_095153.jpg

Before we go, I want to thank everyone for being a part of #MarketFriday! And a word to the wise. Only buy what you need, not what you think you may need in a few weeks. I ended up returning a lot of things!

Speaking of flowers, were we not? Well, in case we weren't, always, there must be a flowers. Always. #alwaysaflower

Ribbet collage 2.jpg

Thank you, Lowe's! You just put a smile on my face!

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Because of you, I come back to post again and again.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"

Holy Crap flowers and decks make for great living space. I am saving the deck for a more stable time but have spared no expense on the garden.

Love it when I catch a Denise post. You are the best.

How funny is it that I still remember your Market Friday post from yesteryear when you purchased all of the lumber for an upcoming project?! @dswigle

Glad you were able to return everything hassle free!!!

I'll be back with my post once I put it together. Happy Friday, Denise!💕🤗💫

Well aren't you just the elephant that won't forget? Of course oh, you know bigger than a minute, so the elephant joke didn't work. However you do have an uncanny sense of remembrance. I hate buying ahead for any project, unless it's something very specific because I have been left with all sorts of nuts and bolts that don't fit anything because people needed them. So glad you showed up to say hello and of course I always look forward to a market Friday from you! I hope you have a most wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Of course, you are probably not on lockdown like we are here but we will still celebrate anyway.

Great experience. It is always a kind of stress for me when I have to return something to the supermarket.
Market and shopping of all types are about service. How great to meet nice and caring people, even if it is their job :)

I agree, it is their job, however, these people went above and beyond because merchandise was at least a year beyond their normal 30 days I am not particularly fond of returning anyting, but a lot of money was tied up in the purchase of these oh, so I did not feel too bad about that. The only thing I wish is that I had returned them earlier. Although I can say that they were in the same shape as they would have been so oh, not that that makes it any better but let me sleep last night.

I hope all is well with you and yours and that your daughter is doing fine. When is the next time that you get to visit her? Are you still on lockdown or have you returned to the normal world? We are still on lockdown. I think we are practically the only ones left.

Good morning, dear Denjse 🌞 You purchased it a year ago? Omg, now I see, you are really lucky! Reslect to their staff!

We are all healthy, thank you so much for care 🤗 Ukraine is on some phase of easying lockdown measurements. Today they promised to run public transport because since they start relaxing Kyiv lives in a collapse. Some bussiness are back but people have no way to get to work but on cars, and sometimes it takes 2-3 hours to get to the office one way, this is a shame.
My mom gets back to work on Monday, and in one more week they promise to open gyms so my daughter will work again.

We have a car so I visited them on May 1st, helped in the garden and so on. Only a few towns were closed completely.

I wish your situation improves soon too, and we all will remember this in a year and think What on the earth it was?

This is my contribution 😊

I can't even begin to tell you how lucky that your little town is opening! I'm sitting here, still on lockdown, watching as the world opens its doors. I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad because there is a certain uncertainty about running into the wind right now. I hope you are enjoying your new found freedom and that your post includes some of those highlights tell me which I know they will. Insert big smile here. Thank you so much for joining us here in the challenge and I hope you have a most wonderful day. Much appreciation for dropping the link!

lol oh my goodness, those home projects! Well I have to say we have finished building our our bedroom closet during the quarantine!! Woohoo! After 3 years it is truly amazing! Now to the paint store! I was sure you would end up in the flower center after returning the lumber😉 Be safe my friend, blessings to you and your family during this crazy time.

Oh yes! You know me so well! How could life be normal without benefit of a few beautiful flowers adorning my Gardens? I will admit that most of what I have, came up all by itself and I sprinkles a few marigold seeds from last fall. I put one here and there but but this year that's going to be it. Funny how less is suddenly more.

So glad to hear you get your project done oh, this is the time for those projects that we have been putting off, isn't it? And yet, for some reason, it seems like everybody is busier than normal, which makes no sense at all. And yet it is so. I hope you are having a wonderful week and that your Memorial Day is , indeed, memorable.

It's a little sad that this project will never be realized. Looks like something interesting was planned. The boards look very beautiful. But how easy it was to get it back! In our stores, it would be a lottery with an unknown result.

Actually several projects get done, but too much wood was bought oh, so rather than keep on looking at this wood waiting for another project, it's time to bring it back and get my money back. Why is it so hard to return things in your country? it actually was surprising because even during lockdown, which we are still under, this store will take back things. I would never have brought anything back but I saw people lining up to bring things back. Thank you for dropping everything and stopping in to say hello.

You can return things only after a short period in our country. If more than a year has passed, it will depend on the store - some will agree to accept the goods, some will not.

Normally some of these should return within 30 days but for some reason they accepted that the construction Goods were fine. I was fine with that but I was also ready to take them back home if they wouldn't take them it was a true win for me.

Well it is kind of a strange one just because I'm bringing back things instead of buying things. But, it is a reality of life so I thought I would share it! LOL

They do have flowers they're also in the hardware store. That have a separate entrance and area where they only have gardening things. Of course we had to get a couple. I didn't want to waste the trip! Thank you so much for stopping by and for dropping your link! I hope you are having a wonderful day.

Builders store looks clean, well laid out with friendly staff Denise.

What on earth were you building, a hot-house, a sauna, a sun room?

Oh dear so it didn't happen you sure are lucky they took it back and refunded, highly doubt that would happen over here after such a long time.

Isn't that nursery just around the corner, I feel another post coming on with planting season starting in your neck of the woods....😃

I have so many nurseries around here that I can't even count them. This Nursery is attached to hardware store. In actuality it was for several projects that these two-by-fours were purchased. One of the projects didn't get done so I brought back the extra. I'm all for buying as you need not buying so you don't have to go out again. Not everybody agrees with my philosophies so I got tired of looking at them and then doing nothing so after that long I piled them into my car and brought them back. They were actually in better shape than the ones that they were selling because I stacked them carefully and they didn't bend so they were straight. As for planting season oh, we never really had a winter this year so we have been planting since February. It just so happens that the bulk of summer planting should be done.

It is kind of weird to have warm weather in February oh, but we did we are as normally we would be having Maybe a small snow storm. So much for global warming. Thanks for stopping by!

Wood has become more expensive, if good condition no reason not to accept back in-store.

We are expecting a cold front to arrive from Monday at the moment are experiencing our normally beautiful weather at this time of the year 15 to 25 deg C.

Yes, they are actually very forgiving in what you can I tried. It's easier to are people buying more than what they need and return the rest then it is to have them coming in again and again and again. That and the fact that they do deliveries. I believe that we are very lucky in the view that the retail lumber stores take. Not all of them there are the same however most are pretty easy.

I hope all is well with you this week and that you will have a good weekend. Thank you for stopping by and saying hello, dropping your link.

It’s going to be a strange weekend! I can feel it, especially after the Bitcoin halving. So many things are happening in the world and here behind the scene. I could feel a group of people planning something! Not so good for me being rather psychic at times.

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback @dswigle, I've never heard of TSU! Steemit was/is a shocker but thank goodness for Hive, hope that doesn't happen here!
Anyway, take good care of yourself and hope the next DIY project gets done, we have so much stuff waiting to be done and gathering dust, you were very lucky they refunded you;)

Well, that project got done, but being there was so much leftover, I wanted to do something else, which never got done, so I brought it back.

Tsu was an amazing place and there are so many here from there, however, Steem was the best replacement ever! It took several years for me to find it! At least we had notice with Steem. TSU folded, no notice. Boom!

Remember. Regret nothing and learn from it. I am sure you had many things on your mind, such as you do now, and we just cannot do everything. Right? I am sure you did a lot of other nice things for her.

No regrets.

Incredible! If I understood correctly, did they receive the wood back almost two years after you bought it? Such a thing is inconceivable in Romania, I have not heard that it can happen. I bought a water filter two months ago and I will not install it. I doubt I'll be able to return it.
The same interesting blog and I'm glad I found out something new. Thanks!
I don't put the link anymore because I see you found it. Thanks!

The did! They took it back after two years. Inconceivable, even here, but, to be honest, it looked the same as it did two years ago. I kept it in the attic stacked nicely. The best I can say is that there will be much forgiveness right after COVID lifts. Bring it back then!
