To Market, to Market: By Market Friday

avatar

I like to go shopping with a market list. While I am sure that I don't always stick to it, I feel like I need one so I am not inclined to buy on impulse. I have found that I am able to save money as I have chosen wisely, making meals as I am putting my list together. At least the meals are mentally made.

This week was shopping for basic necessities to include fruit, vegetables and perhaps some meat. I am doing the needful. How many people like to shop for food? I have to be honest. I really don't. I like to eat and I don't mind cooking, but, if it isn't in my garden, I would rather go to the produce stands, where they grow it and sell their goods directly to you, selecting the goodness fresh from the farm food. Seems like I am in between picking at the moment, waiting for some of the crops to be ready, making the fifty-yard dash through the grocery stores. Just to be done with it. Can I be the only one that feels this way? Doing the needful isn't as fun as picking fruit. There is just something about it.

Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, that's me!!) Join me as we share our markets across the globe. I always look forward to seeing what you send me! It is amazing to see the different markets and cultures of our friends here on Hive. Show me what you have this week!

IMG_5645.JPG

I got my cart and was putting a strategy for getting in and out of the market. I have memorized what is on which aisle, but, every once in a while, they mix it up, just to keep me on my toes, or more likely, to make me search the store just so I can see what I missed. Does anyone else memorize the aisles or do you do the slow southern crawl through the store, making sure you miss nothing?

IMG_5665.JPG

I was happy that what I did get was fresh looking, even if they were a bit overpriced. I have been reading all the posts and the one thing they have in common is that everything is going up in price - still. There has been no break and it continues to skyrocket. Unfortunately, some people are having to make choices on things that buy. Not like before and that is a shame.

IMG_5727.JPG

I have stocked up on staples like lentils, pasta and other dried goods that stay good over time. Our winter will be here in a few months, or at least the cooler weather. So lentils are something I use a lot in the winter, for soups, fillings, and even sweets. For now, I use them as a thickener for stews. and curries and also a nice hummus-like dip. They are versatile! They store well too. I know, I am just being silly.

IMG_5662.JPG

Carrots! They are unbelievable~ I blinked and they doubled in price. While I like carrots, my horses love them and honestly, they don't like the idea that I have limited their carrot intake until their price gets a little more reasonable. I made pony cookies yesterday instead and they love them as I use molasses, oats and other yummy things. You could even eat them, and if I get ties up at the barn, I may flip a cookie or two. When I start galloping to the house, I will know I have had too many.

IMG_5641.JPG

I love all types of fruit. My strawberries were plentiful this year, but, I needed more than I grew. The kiwi vine puts out really tiny kiwis... does anyone know what I am doing wrong? To be honest, they aren't native to here, so perhaps they are not getting everything they need. If anyone knows what could be wrong, I would be happy to know. The blueberries this year have outdone themselves. Truly! The blueberries have been pretty amazing. Delicious, nutritious and all that goodness!!! Yes, please!

IMG_5590.JPG

CUE THE MUSIC MAESTRO!!

image.pngsource

Some days, life is a perfect symphony. I know! This is #MarketFriday, and how appropriate is this?? Not, but, I needed something to break up all these vegetables. Don't you think? Shhhh!... Just put it on and enjoy.

Okay...You may not remember this, but, I always take a picture of my refrigerator to keep me honest. You know the drill!!! Let's do a refrigerator check!!! Open up wide and take a picture! That always keeps me honest on the junk I put in it.

IMG_5756.JPG

As an aside, interaction is key! I would love every post on here to get comment and interaction going on. Isn't that why we are here? We must be a friend to people to have them be your friend. I try to make sure I get to everyone, and yes! I am always behind because I want to make sure I see everyone's post. Many people do get around and see many. I can say that is never in vain. I want to thank those that take the time to do that, it makes a stronger, better community.

IMG_5763.JPG

I ran through the Commissary. They check you out, bag your groceries then bring them out to the car for you. Service with a smile. Tip! Oh, yes. In the Commissary, the baggers work for tips only, so don't forget to give them one! It is eclectic, it's true! Nevertheless, #MarketFriday loves you! Thank you always and let’s see those #MarketFriday posts!

Back to the classic. The classic #marketfriday post from the beginning. When I didn't understand what kind of challenge this is and how to write. Now, it's been more than five years and we're still writing. At this point, I can't remember another challenge that has lasted all these years. Congratulations, Denise! You chose it very well.

Your fridge is impressively full and tidy! Mine is much messier because I mix everything... Maybe you have more fridges, dedicated separately to meat, cheese, etc. You definitely have a big family, if we look in the fridge!

I can call this a classic post dedicated to the market. A learning post and ideas for participants in your challenge. I haven't started writing yet, I don't have an idea of what I will write but I might be inspired by what and how you wrote.

I loved it!
Have a nice weekend with your family!

It is a classic weekend! I actually skipped many parts like the riddle, and shortened my steps, not going through the whole market but still, much like it used to be. You are right though, it had been five years, which is hard to believe it has been that long and it is still here. This surprises even me.

I do have another refrigerator, but this one is in the kitchen. The other one has cheese, meats, pickles and dairy. I have a lot of bulky itmes so it is easier to keep them seperated.

I had an idea but needed to get pictures yesterday. My air conditioning unit took a vacation or died, I cannot tell yet. It is 33C today, so a little warm. So, I didn't get my pictures I needed yesterday, put it together last night late. It happens. It is Thursday, I knew something would happen!Always on the #MarketFriday day. :/

You know how I feel, don't stress!

It was with obstacles but came out a very good post. A model for followers and those who want to learn.

I was sure you still have at least one more fridge or freezer. Extended family...!

I know how you feel, I don't stress, I just marvel!
Wishing you a less hot and more enjoyable weekend!

Isn't it easier when you know the right aisles to go to? It helps me not waste time and get it done. I know they mix it up so that we will look up and down each aisle, hopefully purchasing things we didn't know we needed. :)

Isn't that the way? Ha! Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your words.

I love your refrigerator! It looks so organized and neat. Also I love lentils as well. They do last for a while and we use them a lot here. Fresh produce is the healthiest and I would prefer them too but unfortunately it isn't always an option, though majority of the time I get them from the farmer's market.

This is my entry for this week's #marketfriday tag:

Thank you! I can always find what I put in there when it is straightened up like this. Lentils are such a wonderful food item. I can never believe how much I use them until I think about it.

I like the farmers' markets and that is my go-to. I still go to the grocery store as there are things I need but would rather not. 😁

Thank you for taking the time to read the post and drop your link!

That comes from mine being so disorganized at one time, that some of the food wouldn't get used in a timely manner! To be honest, the thing that organizes it best is keeping the product in the containers.

I have to be honest...I am not one for shopping...and the kitchen is not one of my strong points either...lol.

When I absolutely have to go to the shops, I would have my list...be in, get what I need, and be out before you know it.

If my wife can't make it to go to the shops and she needs me to help out, she would explain to me exactly where I would find everything ahead of time, because believe me...I am not searching through that place! If it's not where I expect it, I would rather leave without it...lol. Can you tell that I hate shopping...lol?

Yes, I love growing whatever I can myself. So much fun when you can eat from your own garden!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

You can find my post here for this week's #FridayMarket.

So, what are you telling me? Except for food, you want nothing to do with it? LOL You are too funny, but, I believe you!

Shopping is not my strong suit, and yet, I run #MarketFriday! :))

I do love growing and our season is perfect for getting two different harvests, summer, and autumn, for those winter squash and such. Thank you for stopping by and reading and dropping a post! I appreciate your support!

It's not one of my strong points, no. I'm not even going to try and deny it...lol. I remember one Christmas season when we went shopping for Christmas gifts and my wife had something particular in mind for a certain family member. We went from one shop to another and we just couldn't find what she was looking for...

At about shop #5, a salesperson approached and asked if he could help. I jokingly asked if he could please just direct us to the nearest exit... Oops, not funny in my wife's books and I wasn't very popular for the rest of the afternoon...lol.

Same with preparing food... I'd rather work in the garden, growing it. But please spare me from working in the kitchen preparing it. It's just not me...lol.

It doesn't mean I don't have favorite dishes... My wife makes a dish that I know as Curry Eggs & Rice. It consists of cooked eggs that she cuts and serves on rice. She then covers it with a curry sauce. Oh man, I can't get enough when she makes it...

In all honesty, when I became aware of #MarketFriday, I thought I would never be able to write a post for this project/community...because I thought it would only be "shopping-related". It was only after reading a few of the #MarketFriday posts published by @tattoodjay, that I realized that I would not have to go shopping every week. I then also saw a post by yourself (@dswigle) where you wrote about visiting a canoe shop, and looking at canoes if I recall correctly...

That's when I thought to myself... "Wait a minute, I can do this if I don't have to spend time in a grocery shop every week"...lol.

But I take my hat off to all of those of you who are good at it!

We might try to do one of the local markets this weekend instead of hitting the one in the bigger city. It was just too nuts the last time we went. I am not a fan of huge crowds like that when I am in the mood for a relaxing stroll through the market. We don't really enjoy going shopping either. Fresh fruits and veggies are so expensive. We usually buy most of our meat in bulk and then portion it and food save it so we don't have to go to the store so often.

I do the same and it makes sense as so much of it is frozen anyway. I use a vacuum sealer I got it from Cabells's and I love it. I have had it for years and I buy it in bulk and fill my freezer. I freeze fruit and use it in smoothies. The fresh fruit that I pick is short-lived in its season, so I pick it and then pick extra for the freezer.

If I don't have time to make jams in the summer as I am pretty busy, you can't interrupt your fun!! I save it until fall and make jam then. I have already made some, but, will finish later in the year.

Great minds think alike!

Thanks for stopping in !

We've owned a vacuum sealer for years in some form or another. My wife loves it because then she doesn't have to touch the chicken. Just slice the package and dump it in the pan.

Haha! That is right! I forgot she doesn't like to handle them. I know! I have owned some kind since I left home. It started with Seal-A-Meal and worked its way up. It really is the way to go!

I always make a shopping list what is needed, walking around the shop… I do add things. 😉🤓 I’m not that strict.
But I can just stick with the list too, when in a rush or when the store is toooo busy. Than I just want to get what we need and leave as soon as possible hehehe 🤭

I like the volunteers that pack the bags and walk to your car. They don’t exist here. For sure they get a tip from me.

Such a beautiful captures Denise of the produce… and your fridge.
Mine is almost empty. Tomorrow is shopping day for the week. So a photo of it another time 😉🤓

A list is helpful and I don't like to forget the things I really need. There is an option to add, but, I don't go on a rampage filling my cart with things I don't need but are on sale! I know where everything is, I can get in and out if I need to!

I love how they do that. Nobody bags their own. It has always been such a nice little bonus to go there.

Hehe! Sometimes mine looks best empty! LOL But, I do understand. I like to go to the market during the week if I can, weekends are so busy!

Thank you for supporting the challenge! I surely appreciate you!

Yep, me neither… Denise, I never go crazy with shopping. I actually don’t like shopping, for anything hehehe 🤭
But it is needed. Especially for food.

Yes, I would visit too once in a while, just to experience it and support them 😉

I hope to change this ritual we have here, only shop on Saturday. The grocery shop is too far, so once is fine and hubby has the car in the week most of the days.

Happy to be here @dswigle 😊🤗🥰

Those tomatoes you got look fantastic, what a treat! I've got to admit that I don't enjoy shopping much. I don't like crowded or loud places and find the entire process taxing. If there was a farmer's market close by I would definitely be keen to support them because farm fresh really does taste so much better than the store bought stuff.

I recently went to a vegetable store and couldn't believe how tiny everything that they had was. The gem squash were the size of tennis balls and the mushrooms looked like they were a dwarf variety. I'm not sure why it was like this but everything seemed to have shrunk.

This weekend I am going to have the opportunity to visit a farm stall and I'll see what their produce is like in comparison. I think you got some great looking fruit and vegetables.

Thank you! I was pretty happy with them as well! My favorite, of course, is growing your own! The tomatoes are one of my favorites!

Some of the grocery stores have been carrying substandard fruit and vegetable for exorbanent prices. It is a crime.

Have fun at the farm. Farm to table... my favorite!

Home grown tomatoes taste so much better than store bought, it's true, they never let them riped enough or they have completely depleted the soil.

The produce you bought looks amazing! I didn't know that you could make hummus with lentils. I'm going to have to check it out. Your photos look great - so many colors! My fridge looks nothing like yours - packed and totally disorganized. I shall clean it up soon!!!

Noooo! I am sure it looks fine. I am an overachiever in keeping the refrigerator organized. I have watched people throw out food because it went bad, they never even saw it in the refrigerator, and it got lost.

Hummus is great with lentils!

There are six simple ingredients: garlic, lentils, olive oil, lemon, tahini, and salt!

A high-speed blender will yield the SILKIEST and CREAMIEST hummus based on my experience. A food processor works as well, but it may not be as smooth and you will need to blend it a bit longer to break it down.

Add ons:
Roasted red peppers
Fresh herbs
Pumpkin purée
Peanut butter and Thai chili sauce
Chipotle peppers
Sun-dried tomatoes

Thanks for the info about the hummus! I will have to try it and not tell the kids what's in it. They've decided they don't like lentils because I put them in everything that I use ground beef in. Ha! I just made a post about sprouted lentils. Do you ever make those? They're pretty yummy! I was hoping to make them to feed my chickens, but they were not interested. Too picky I guess! If we have something we forget about in the fridge, we just feed it to the chickens. Ha!

Same here, most of the time I already have in my mind what to buy before doing the shop. Especially this time that inflation happened. Basic needs, everything prices suddenly spiked up.

I need to do some budgeting or else my alloted allowance won't last till payday😂.

Wow, I like how organized your refrigerator.

Word to the wise? I have a budget every day, it is the only way to live unless you're rich. That is a lie: rich people have budgets too. That is how they got rich. ;)

I keep my refrigerator organized so I can find everything. There is less spoilage and food that goes bad if I can see what I have.

Welcome to #MarkeTfiday! I look forward to it!

I mostly never go to the supermarket with a shopping list. I have a few items in mind maybe and the rest depends on what I see there.
Some market a just a see and no buy like this one:

I don't blame you. You cook so little at home, it doesn't make sense to have a bunch of food in the house.

It makes more sense to pick up stuff that looks good.

Haha! A see and no buy one! :)

Thank you, Ace! @ace108

Oh, I enjoyed your post so, so much.
Yes, with a blink of an eye, practically overnight, priced increase!
Your vegetable refrigerator is perfect. Mine is crowded and with different things in it.
It's a good idea to separate the veggies. I bought a tiny ref for beverages, if I unload the other essential and transferred them in other ref in the garage, i can be neat and orderly... hahaha!

Thank you so much for this post, @dswigle !

I put all the condiments in the butlers' pantry fridge, it is easier to have them out of my way, and I use them less frequently than fresh items. Truth! Everything is so high now!!

I like separating them, but, there is nothing wrong with putting them together! You have enough company to count it as a medium-sized family! 😁

You are orderly!!!

Hello dear friend @dswigle good afternoon
That is a very good shopping technique, it is proven that more than 50% of what you buy is done on impulse, and perhaps you don't even need it
buying from the direct supplier or from the field is the most convenient, they are generally of better quality and fresher
All vegetables look very tempting
This is my link to accompany your kind invitation
have a beautiful weekend

Hey @dswigle :)

Thanks you for this Friday overview ! WOW, your fridge is really in battle order ^^ I love that hehe ! I also always do a list, and I tend to stick to it... I'm even able to search for an item for hours and many shops... well, it depends on the item in question of course :D

Thanks for creating this community which I've been seeing for quite some time, so I didn't resist any longer : https://peakd.com/hive-196308/@anttn/finishing-our-shopping-tour-in-lannion-by-some-unsuspected-places

Hehe! I do like an orderly refrigerator. I can find everything and it makes less waste. If it is hiding, it tends to get wasted.

Lists are good, although I can add to the list and not freak about staying with the list!

What a brilliantly bright happy trip to the markets Denise, healthy veggies mixed with the best walk around the Commissary. How I would love such a market nearby, the woes of not living in a city.😊
I am enamoured of your veggie fridge, it is magnificent and so well ordered, nothing has a chance of growing old and mucky.

It was a happy one, you are right! I love how you read into things. The Commi is huge and worthy of calling it to exercise! I have to admit, my location is perfect in so many ways. The backside is on the city side and the front side has a few small farms if I take a left out of my neighborhood.

That is the exact reason I have the refrigerator organized! I got tired of losing food! So I stack it in those reusable containers and they stay organized. Yes! Waste not, want not. Ahhh shopping for fruits and vegetables could be so much fun for me, too! I used to do it every week since I cook my own food when we were staying at our company staff house during the first year of COVID. Well I dont mind spending some time in the grocery store to get what we need, however in my mind, Covid is still around, so I try to get in and out. Oh and yes I still wear a mask.

Pfft I guess I better tip myself then, because in our local market, I usually end up doing the lion's share of the bagging lol.

Yes just under the wire, I got my Market Friday post in. It perhaps is stretching the basic concept of MF, but we are there in spirit.

Instead of looking at the items in your refrigerator I was more focused on the organisation. I am in an awe 💖 .

You are right about the prices. The price of everything is rising and we have to think twice before spending the money. The high price of food item is the most heart breaking thing. People are struggling to feed themselves and their families.

I hope your pony would get more carrots but as you told he enjoyed the cookies. Perhaps he would be loving them more over time 😃

I know it is a bit excessive, but, I love it organized. The food doesn't get lost and there is less (or no) waste.

The prices are killing everyone. I cannot understand how people that couldn't afford it before can do anything now. A sad state of affairs.

He doesn't really need the carrots, it is a special treat, but, he is so spoiled! :) I gave him some today and tomorrow, an apple. He loves apples too.

Organization saves space too along with protecting the food from spoiling.

You are right. The prices have sky rocketed. The food and medicine have become so expensive that they have went out of reach.

I've never of these kind of places before, are they exclusively for active military and/or their family members? Also, is there more than one around country? I assume the prices would be better at a place like this than a regular market.

Well, you got blueberries, brown lentils, strawberries, kiwis, raspberries, these things are all exotic fruits and foods to me. Strawberries are starting to be more common in Cambodia, and folks are learning they can grow them in higher altitudes here. Oh, almost forgot my (one day late) #marketfriday post.....

I have shown them off before, so I apologize for not going more into detail. I know there are new people and I should, but, don't want people tiring of the same thing. :)

They are military facilities and used by active duty and/or family members. Since 9/11 they have added Guard/Reserve in some capacity. I have five large ones and two smaller ones around the area (Washington, DC metro area) They are attached to a military base/fort and they are all over the US and the military installations all over the world. I know of Ream in Cambodia, and I believe there are three more. Overseas they are better priced than here in the US. They are much like the neighborhood grocery store. At times, I live on base, but, mostly get a house on the economy.

There are 240 Commissaries, but, before the big drawdown, many more.

The fruits are exotic to you, but, the normal fare here. The same for your fruit! :) There are quite a few fruits that grow and adapt, I always find that interesting. I have kiwi vine here and fig trees. Also a Pomegranate! I was surprised that it grew here! I think many adapt that would not normally grow.

Thank you for supporting the challenge and dropping your link! I hope both you and the family are all doing well!

Nice :)

I loathe supermarkets and shopping in general. Malls. Restaurants and shoes :/

Markets are far more enjoyable. With a wicca basket so I can pretend I'm a country girl.

I also make meals in my head to cut costs :) And I know every aisle. Run and and out asap.

Now that I've abandoned the car and am a bit away... they deliver! No more malls for me!! Hoo-fuckin-ray-of-sunshine 👏😁

Well, I would lose things in a messy refrigerator, so years ago, I started putting them in reusable containers - which keeps most of them much better. Also, easier to move the cubes around than the items without containers.

I've always hated cleaning out those slimy crisper drawers. You never know what might be growing in there. I'll need to do some research into those individual reusable containers. They would save me so much time!

0
0
0.000
avatar

What kind of research? They are plastic containers used in the produce section in BJ's or Costco. I used BJs. I have had them for so long and just wash them thoroughly between uses and they keep the produce better longer.

If you find anything ugly in your research, please let me know. I could find anything at the time that put me off.

0
0
0.000
avatar

I don't see those containers is all I'm saying.

The produce I buy is just sitting there out in the open, hosed down and temperature controlled for customers to buy. You simply grab a plastic bag and pick what you like.

Your way allows nice and easy stacking 🙂

0
0
0.000
avatar

Truth @buffalobison Mine is usually at a farmers market, so the same. I bought some produce at BJ or Costco just for these containers. :) They have holes to breathe and they stack so I can see everything! Then I handwash them after the produce is gone and reuse. Other places might use something, but, they are usually inferior to these.

The stacking and how well it keeps is what pushed me to this side.

It's always a good idea to go shopping with list, as it'll play a big role in helping us not get distracted by other items that might catch our attention, also it also help us work according to our budget without spending outside of it.

Although it's fine if when go outside of it to purchase things necessary that works in favour of our needs.

These tomoatoes and other crops are so fresh, I can't wait to see the one at my garden become so ripe like that.

And you've also got so fresh and healthy vegetables in your fridge, these are one of the things that aid healthy living free from illness and co.

Here is a link to my post and apologies for the late submission, have a wonderful weekend experience.

I have to agree with you. I can go outside of my list when it is in my favor, but, most times, people with no plan spend more. It is a fact.

I like to work within my budget and it keeps me honest about my already planned meals! It was a really good season for tomatoes this year! Everything is still coming! Good luck with yours this year!

That's good to know you see this in the same light as I do, not having a lay down plan at all isn't good at all, and I hope those who do that will come to that knowledge before it leads them into bankruptcy.

I too try to always take a list (or back when I did my own shopping I did ...heh), but I would always whim shop with it. I couldn't possibly think of all the options there are out there and variety being the spice of life.... sometimes I simply needed to see something to know I want some of it. LOL

"When I start galloping to the house, I will know I have had too many." THAT made me laugh.... cloppity, cloppity,clop.....

Those colors in the strawberry/blueberry/kiwi photo really zings out of of the page. Love that.

Oh ! ...and that purple clematis is amazing !

Thank you! I always get a kick out of your replies.

Clippity, cloppity, clop. LOL

I do know what you mean about needing to see something to know I wanted it. Hmmm. Yup. Just ran by a bag of Cheese Puffs... I needed them to eat as I am doing the #MarketFriday. An unplanned event. Ha. And yet, not on the list. I pivoted and put them in the cart. As a normal shopping day, I usually make a list based on what I am making for dinner that week and pick up the ingredients I don't have. Those are the needed items. Anything else, I try to keep the junk to a minimum. The rest is for my taste buds. I threw licorice in there too. Just saying

Black licorice, I especially love it because nobody in this house likes it! :) Sorry/Not Sorry.

I love when fruits are all cut up and looking good for you delicious! We all had fruit salad for lunch today. The fruit is just plentiful and delicious!

Whim buying is my fav ! I had to stop at Dollar General on the way home from Moms, because there wasn't any junk food here to get me through the emotional work slug of Monday.... I just couldn't face it alone ! 😄 It's going to be an ugly death !

Cheese Puffs ... Good ! Licorice.... Yucky ! ha ha.... yep... no competition here for that !

Do you put some sort of "dressing" type thing on your fruit salad?

0
0
0.000
avatar

I don't usually put anything but the natural freshness. Everything was so fresh that I cubed it and served it just like that. I cannot tell you how boring I am. Except for licorice. I love it. It is like crack to me. Honest Injun! I could eat a whole pack, so I bring none home. I am like an addict. I have to finish it. That is a problem. Nothing else is like that for me. Wait. Lies. There are several things, so I don't'buy them and I am okay with that.

I like mornings where I can go for a short run, and the coffee will brew while I am away, be done when I get back and I can go through my emails and take care of business early. Life has gotten less complicated lately which is nice for a change. I put my phone on Airplane mode today after I sent my entire family a text saying if they wanted me (seriously needed me) they could call on the house phone. Yes, I still have a house phone, I need one. But today was a day of no contact, just all about here and now. So, only my brother called the house phone when he could get hold of me. So, long story short. It was a nice day.

Is this going to be a busier week than normal? Or the regular stuff? Are you sure you don't want to split a bag of licorice or can I just have your half?? I'll trade you for my Cheese Puffs. Well, there is only a half a bag left.

Wait! What did you get at the Dollar Store!?? Come on! Make me jelly!

0
0
0.000
avatar

This will be a normal first week of the month busy for us. We don't close out on the last day of the month on many months and this time we closed out for August last Saturday. (I dunno why).... so we are starting a new month in our billing cycle. It is not the worst week of the month normally, but just have to take it day by day and hope for the best.

I doubt I could make you jelly with what I bought. I got cheetos which is cousin to your cheese puffs and some candy corn and a individual bag of a fall snack mix that is YUCK ! Good thing it wasn't a big bag. It had a tiny bit of candy corn to make it look fall'ish and it had white covered heart pretzels and little pretzel bites with peanut butter in them, but I didn't see that it was Palmer brand when I bought it or I would have left it on the shelf, because Palmer is very cheap yucky tasting crap. Sure enough, The PB pretzel was stalish and the outside had picked up the flavor of the fake white chocolate wannabe coating on the heart pretzel. The heart pretzel tasted yuck because Palmer doesn't know how to do chocolate of any kind.... and then candy corn was hard like it was leftover from last year. I only tasted one piece of each and when I walk into the kitchen now to see what I'll be snarfing down for lunch, it will be going in the trash. Ew ! I need to be more observant !

0
0
0.000
avatar

Oh! I just saw this and yuck! What a waste of a good pretzel! Palmers is crap, yes? Good to know.

I am hoping it is a normal, peaceful week. :) Or something like that.

I have finally finished #MarketFriday! What a week that was! I must be getting old and slow, or running out of time again.

Let's get some good candy. I am tired of junk! Oh, the stores have all the fall candy already!

0

0.000

I did get one more thing I forgot and this is Dollar Generals one saving grace on candy. There are little bags of their brand of candy that is Salted Caramels coated in chocolate. The little bag is a dollar and it may have 6 pieces in it. The squares or a generous size and they are delicious if you like that sort of thing. Thing is for me, once I open the bag, it is hard not to keep going back till all 6 pieces are gone. Good thing it's only 6. Yum....

Oh, my God! Hundreds of comments, what are you going to do now, @dswigle? Is that success, congratulations! It's a recognition of your value that we all already know. I wish you'd exhaust the replies as soon as possible and please make them shorter!
Because I'm a bit late with posting, I'm now forced to put the link, otherwise, you'll be upset that you didn't see my post... haha!
Please, and some rest!

Ha! I was almost finished answering yours as you posted this. You know, great minds and all. You told me you were posting, so I didn't miss it.

I always get just about this many posts on MarketFriday. It matters not what the payout is. $10 or $80 I still get the same amount. It's never been about the money. although I would be a fool to say I don't enjoy it. The last ones you see at the bottom are still unanswered are some of the ones I asked to drop the link. Mostly new people, but, with all the challenges, it is hard to remember the rules/recommendations for each one. So, we need to show mercy.

Thank you for your concern. That is quite kind and thoughtful of you. I am running through them and have to wonder why I am the slowest on earth to finish curating their challenge.

Thank you for dropping the link, Dan~ @bluemoon

Thank you for speaking on my behalf, @dswigle!
See, I try to train myself to be very short in my comments, haha...

I saw the flower in the end and smacked by head for forgetting the photo of mangrove flower in my post https://ecency.com/hive-196308/@leeart/market-friday-at-immuki-island lol!

I saw the video and I know exactly what that is and played it while writing this.

I love how colorful your fridge is :) Lentils! Oh I like mixing that with steamed rice. I'll make a mental note to purchase some of those. Kiwis here are pricey then and it surely is dearer now. As much as I want to buy fruits that I like, as you have noted, prices are on the rise. I used to take some time buying things at the grocery but then started grabbing what I thought I have memorized to buy (it's getting less and less every visit it seems) only to realize once I got home and I have forgotten something lol!

Happy Market Friday!

Haha! Don't smack yourself! :))

A Perfect Symphony. I love it. :) It doesn't hurt to have two great vocalists. My refrigerator is always on the colorful side. I love lots of vegetables with my day. Kiwis are overpriced, but I bought one, perhaps two.

That is exactly why I make a list with my meals all planned. (sort of!) Otherwise I am a fail.

Thanks you! Happy #MarketFRiday~

Lol!

I do like duets and different voices blending together as one. I think being in a choir when I was younger had that much influence.

Hey there @dswigle, I made it and I have just made a few more as I am now back at work and fell so depressed that I won't have enough time to hive on, so I am making a few changes to my schedule and making some drafts is the first step!

Here is the link to my last Market Friday post and so sorry that I forgot to link it here for you! https://peakd.com/hive-196308/@chocolatescorpi/my-magical-market-friday-in-my-old-hometown

I hope that you enjoy this one but I can safely tell you that the next 3 are just as exciting if not more!

Oooh and then there's the really REALLY MAGICAL one to come!

And when you see it, you will know why I have emphasized the MAGICAL part! 😃

Oh, no worries. I have people link them so they are easier to find for people. They just come here and go down the list to see what they like. It doesn't always call them all up, especially if they misspell or forget to tag me. :/

I look forward to your posts!!! You have me thinking now!

Thanks for dropping the link! You are awesome!

Oh..I love that lifestyle of yours.. I can't see any shit in your fridge. I'm much like that, I already plan what to buy in the market..thinking about buying meat, chickens or fish...Then came back home with a bags of fruits and veggies, so my daughter would ask, where's the dish mom? Anway. stocking fruits, veggies and nuts in the fridge keep us away from eating junkies..Thanks for sharing this..🤩🌺
