Cruising through Market Friday Challenge | The Largest Flower Market in HCMC

avatar

Every year during the TET festival which is commonly known as the Vietnamese Lunar Festival, the streets would be filled with flowers. Having fresh flowers in ones homes or offices is a sign of prosperity and richness. As such, people would buy pots and pots of flowers to decorate their homes one week prior to TET. To do so, the largest Flower Market would be seen in HCMC. This year, there weren't many choices which resulted to higher price of these flowers.

I was told by the locals that if anything cost below VND50,000, then it is worth it to buy. Anything more would be considered too pricy and unworthy. I guess they are right in many ways.

These are most expensive ones because the pots used are ceramic as compared to the cheaper ones which uses plastic as their base pots.

Depending on the species & size of the flowers/pots, the prices varies. Some prefer larger ones to be placed outside their homes while others prefer small ones to be placed indoors.

Apart from the flowers, one can also find decorative materials for their homes. I was very close to buying myself some decorative pots but decided otherwise. Best to stay as a minimalist if not I will have plenty unused materials in my home.

This is an inspiration from Denise @dswigle to join the #MarketFriday Challenge! If you haven't followed her yet; please do so now as she is one of those genuine encourages with a true heart and soul to support people on HIVE!

This is the one tag and weekly challenge that I try to make a point to join; not to mention that I'm also a fanatic when it comes to sight seeing or shopping in any form of market - indoors, outdoors, food, textile, accessories and etc.

It is always interesting to see the different markets around the globe!
There's so many different cultures and beauty in this world and the more we travel and open up our eyes, the more we gain.

It's easy to participate :

  1. Go to the market! Any market will do! Food, Clothing, Plant or Animal, if you wish. You can go to the zoo or an art auction. Anywhere or anything that you pay money for a service.
  2. Take pictures! Be creative (or not)
  3. Tell us a little bit about the market, what brought you here?
  4. Post the picture(s)
  5. Don’t forget to hashtag it! #MarketFriday by @dswigle
  6. Minimum 250 words

yes it is @jaynie..
apart from the flower market, I do find portable florist shops on the streets of HCMC.
So long there is an empty pathway, one would be able to find vendors selling all sorts of things; be it food, drinks, flowers, fruits, vegetables and etc.
That is how Vietnam is everywhere

It's lovely! Friends of mine have been there and they often remark on how amazing it was.

Flowers if still in a pot and growing is the best.
I still could not bring myself to buy any cut flowers from the local street side florist.
