Mercati di Rialto , Venice, Italy for #marketfriday

Happy #marketfriday, awesome Hivers!

I love when Fridays come around, and how grateful we all are to the sweetest lady in Hive-land, @dswigle, for initiating the fun #marketfriday tag. So come on along and join in on the fun!

♥.•:¨¨:•.♥.•::•.♥.•:¨¨*:•.♥

The closest thing to open space "wet markets" where I live in California are the Farmer's Market that come to town and set up their fresh vegetables and other food products to sell on tables in tent booths. Unlike the world markets that we see so much on #marketfriday, there are no fresh meats, seafood or fish being sold in my town's Farmers' Markets.

My most recent experience with a wet market was last year in April of 2019 when I spent the Holy Week and Easter in Italy.

Let me share that experience with you Mercati di Rialto, Venezia through the few photos I took last year!

I stayed in the heart of Venice. Coming from San Marco, you would head towards the Rialto Bridge, cross over into San Polo and you will see all the action.

Never a shortage of Gondolas throughout the city! Tourists were taking turns to take photos from this spot, and so it makes me think that it is one of the most photographed in San Polo.

The way to San Polo was only filled with the fragrant smells of Caffe and Pane coming from the Pasticcerias.

The Rialto Markets have existed for centuries, and are renowned for their produce, fresh fish, and fresh seafood! One can get all the ingredients for a fabulous simple Italian meal!

I had Pasta al nero di seppia (Pasta in Squid Ink Sauce) for lunch!
I found the photo ingredient list below from noobcook, who learned it from an Italian Chef. Squid Ink PastaSquid, garlic, onions, chili, celery, pasta sauce, squid ink, cream, Italian seasoning, olive oil, butter, salt, pepper. Easy peasy!

😍So YUMMY delicious and #ilikeitalot!😍

#MarketFriday was initiated and hosted by @dswigle (Denise). Let us to join her and many others as we share different markets across the globe.

Thank you Denise for the opportunity to your tag.

There's just so much to love about this! First of all, I love Italy and lived there for a little while in a town north of Venice, outside Aviano. Everything that you have said is so true and even though the water was so dirty I was afraid I would die if I fell in it oh, it was one of the most romantic cities I've ever been in. I'm not sure what this says about me but rest assure, the Gondolier singing Into the Night as he is navigating the Waterway was an experience that I will never forget.

Your pictures are incredibly delicious looking! Just scrolling through them has made me homesick to go back. It's funny but I don't think I can ever go back enough. I want to thank you so much for sharing your most incredible experience with us. Italy is an amazing country and Venice it is one of its highlights I'm not sure if you got a chance to go to Florence while you were there but that is another place that there just is not enough time in your year to see everything. It goes without saying that Rome has the same alluring voice calling to you. I had a medal blessed by the Pope when I was born and to this day still wear it.

Again, your pictures are absolutely spectacular and that is so kind of you to share the beauty of Venice. I love the squid done that way! Thanks for the recipe!

Thank you so much for taking the time to join the challenge and for taking me to Venice!!! How cool! I appreciate the love and support you are giving to #MarketFriday! Without you and people like yourself, I wouldn't be able to have such a successful challenge! I know that at this time, it is harder to find something to fit the challenge. On a good day, it takes a lot of time and effort to be part of, so it means a lot to me that you participate. I hope you know that there is great latitude in what Market means. It can be typical of where you shop for food, or it can be a unique place that you visit. Thank you again for being a part of all this and I hope that you will, indeed, have a great day and week ahead! So many people ask about the rules! If you or any of your friends are in doubt about how to participate, this should clear it all up! Of course, you have never had a problem. This is in case we can snag one of your friends!

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

How to Participate:

Go to the market! Any market will do! Food, clothing, plant, or animal, if you wish. You can go to the zoo, an art auction, and restaurants. Anywhere or anything that you pay money for any kind of service.
Take pictures! Be creative! It’s fun!
Tell us a little bit about the market, what brought you here?
Post the picture.(s)
Don’t forget to use the MarketFriday Community #196308 to post from or hashtag it! #MarketFriday by @dswigle If you hashtag it, drop the link to your post here so I can easily find them.

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!

I love Italy! This was my second trip. I had a longer vacation time the first time I went and was able to visit Firenze and the neighboring cities. I also took the train and boat ride for an overnight stay on the island of Capri! On that first trip, I was able to visit other parts of Europe, whereas last year, I just stayed in Italy primarily in Venezia and Rome to celebrate the Easter Tridium at the Vatican with the Holy Father.
I feel closer to you after you have shared a bit about your stay in Italy! We probably walked the same streets on Venezia ... isn't that incredibly amazing!!!!
Have a wonderful FOURTH, my beautiful friend @dswigle, and take care 🥰🌺🤙! I so appreciate you much!

That is awesome! I lived in Germany in the Eifel area also and in Holland. My kids think they are European. :) The train from Venezia to Firenze is an easy hop, but, I learned early to never wait until the last train home... Once, the train just never showed up and a compassionate station attendant found another train that would bring us close to where we needed to be. Oh, yes! They do things on their own agenda, but, you gotta love it there!

I have spent years in and around Europe and I will say that because of this pandemic, I am glad I did so much travel already. I got home right before they shut the borders down!

Yikes!

But, I was truly glad I made it to South America this winter. I hope you are enjoying your 4th of July! We are laying low for ours this year, simple picnic and BBQ.

Have a wonderful day!

I love small farmer's markets, but rarely get to go to one. It's amazingly crowded in your pictures! The market look lovely, but I'm not sure I could eat the exotic foods you tried! It must have been a wonderful trip! Thanks for sharing my sweet sister! Take care and have a Happy 4th of July! Much love and hugs!💕😘🤗

Somehow I no longer care for crowds (I actually never did much enjoy venues with too many people). But supposedly that period of my visit was a "slow" time. Yeah, that alley was a favorite passage way (for the locals) and it is really a very narrow alley!
Enjoy your FOURTH too, my lovely sis @elizabethbit! Take care 🥰🌺🤙, lots of hugs and love 🤗💕.

If that was slow, I can't even imagine where they'd put 'busy', lol! Up the walls, maybe? Thanks for sharing! Happy 4th!!!

It looks like a wonderful place!! We just recently watched a travel series and they were touring Venice. I did not know.. but all of the Gondolas are uniformly colored black. They also have a special "call" when they turn a corner so they alert water traffic so they don't collide, so interesting!😀
Thanks for sharing my friend, have a very good weekend!!😍😍😀

And the gondoliers are all in striped shirts, either in blue & white stripes or red & white stripes. SO very cool! Europe has a totally different ambiance from the Pacific areas, and so totally different from tropical Hawaii, for sure.
Have a terrific FOURTH, my friend @silvertop, and take care 🥰🌺🤙

I looks like an amazing place @silversaver888, wonderful that you got to see this first hand my friend! How different it must be to commute to work in a Gondola, they say the locals all stand up in the boats odd....🤔
Enjoy your cookout my friend!!😍😍😀
