It seems that today I am writing on the most exotic topic of all my participation in the wonderful Market Friday.

I found these cars near a working police station. They are unique: they belong to another time, another country, even another city. When these cars were driving along the streets, the police were called militia, the traffic service was called GAI, we lived in a country of the USSR, and St. Petersburg was called Leningrad.

These two vehicles have been completely renovated, painted in traditional colours and are now being rented for filming.

Я мог прочитать, что было на машине. Разве Ленинград не переименовали?

Да, переименовали, в 1991.

That is so good that they have recycled them for a better purpose! Some good can come out of the once feared militia. I am sure there are still a lot of people that miss certain parts of that time, but, I am sure that most of the younger generation is glad they didn't have to endure it.

It is such a short time that so much change has taken place. I can remember exactly where I was when it was announced to the world.

Thank you so much for sharing the culture and all the cool little things about your country. I have been so surprised and happy to see some of your posts! I love this one!

Oh, no :) It's the militia, they didn't cause fear. They'd come if there was a fight or theft, for example. It's not the KGB. The militia did not have serious opportunities for abuse.

Thank you very much!
