With my daughter's 15th birthday approaching and having made the decision after so many years of her request, I decided to take on the challenge and responsibility of adopting a cat.

At first I didn't know what to get her... but, what better birthday present after 10 years of asking for a kitten than to give her that surprise?

Ya cerca la fecha de los quince años de mi hija y habiendo tomado la decisión luego de tantos años de la petición por parte de ella, decidí asumir el reto y la responsabilidad de adoptar un gato.

En un principio no sabía que regalarle… pero, que Mejor Regalo de Cumpleaños que después de estar durante 10 años pidiéndome un gatito que darle esa sorpresa.

Then, she asked us to help her find a home for them because they were already 2 months old and were being put up for adoption to be delivered next month.

Un día mi gran amiga Zora en mi clase semanal de Biodanza, nos contó que su hija, que es miembro de un grupo que rescata gatos de la calle y los alimenta, los cura y les busca un hogar, había llevado a su casa una gata que estaba enfermita y la tenía para curarla, pero que resulta que la gata estaba preñada, y se quedó a cargo de ella en su proceso hasta el nacimiento de los gatitos.

Entonces, nos pidió la ayudáramos a conseguirles un hogar porque ya tenían 2 meses y los estaban dando en adopción para entregarlos el mes próximo.

Yo lo pensé varias veces, pero finalmente le pedí que me pasara una foto con las especificaciones, la cual no tardo en que me llegara a mi celular.

I told her that this would be her birthday present and that I would like her to be the one to decide which one she would like.

My friend Zora put me in touch with her daughter, who gave me the conditions for the adoption and passed me a survey to know how committed we were to the new member of the family.

Estuve viéndolos por varios días, pensaba y sentía, me seguía preguntando, ¿lo hago o espero? hasta que por fin le respondí el mensaje aceptando la adopción de uno.

Le conté que ese sería el regalo de cumpleaños y que me gustaría que fuera ella la que decidiera cual le gustara.

Mi amiga Zora me puso en contacto con su hija, quien me dio las condiciones para la adopción y me pasó una encuesta para saber qué tan comprometida estábamos con el nuevo integrante de la familia.

The day of my daughter's birthday arrived, I told her that we would meet at her grandmother's house to snack on a tortica and celebrate, but first I needed to stop by a friend's house to pick up something very important.

Llame a mi amiga y más tarde nos encontramos en su casa; llegamos y al abrir la puerta me hizo señas con los ojos para indicarme que todo estaba listo.

Pasamos a la casa y mi hija comienza a escuchar unos maullidos y sorprendida me pregunta “mama, ¿aquí hay gatos?

Yo asiento y en ese momento Zora abre la puerta de una de las habitaciones y comienzan a sacar sus cabecitas para curiosear quien esta allá afuera.

Then the kittens came out and played all over the house, although the "mommy" cat did not come out, she was very attentive from the bedroom.

Salieron uno por uno y la cara de mi hija era de asombro, no podía creer esa cantidad de gatitos a su alrededor. Para mi ver su felicidad desbordada fue uno de los momentos más significativos en mi vida.

Luego los gatitos salieron y jugaron por toda la casa, aunque la gata “mami” no salió, estaba muy pendiente desde la habitación.

Le dije, “pero tienes que escoger uno, porque ese es tu regalo de cumpleaños”

No se lo podía creer, y solo repetía, “es en serio, en serio”

Con ella estaban Bombon que es macho y Galletita hembra, quienes estuvieron más tiempo jugando, sin embargo, galletita fue la que se le sentó por un largo rato en las piernas, pasando el mayor tiempo con mi hija.

Al final del día, las palabras de mi pequeña quinceañera me tocaron en lo más profundo de mí ser cuando me dijo: “mami gracias por esta maravillosa sorpresa, este es el mejor regalo del mundo y no lo voy a olvidar nunca, nunca, nunca, Te amo.”
