Friday Squirrel Tricks!

659.JPG

A Happy Friday to all and today I will show you some amazing tricks.

They are not exactly pets, but they all live here and they also feed here in our garden. So we see them every day and we call them our wildlife pets.
Come, let me show you some of their tricks.

Marian my wife laid the afternoon peanuts out for the squirrels and a visitor arrived.
638.JPG

Did you know that Ringneck doves can open the shells and eat the peanuts inside?
652.JPG

Right, now what was happening inside the yellow circle?
673_LI.jpg

Wow! We had a squirrel acrobat picking the nuts in the high cork oak tree.
665.JPG

Yes and of course he could hang upside down.
667.JPG

See why I call them our wildlife pets?
133.JPG

Yes, we have a veritable zoo here in our garden, but they are all free to come and go as they please.
I posted a tiny dwarf chameleon baby this morning Here and I think that you will also like to see him.
Such is life over here.

And That's All Friends!

Note: All photos are my own and taken with a Canon Powershot SX60HS Bridge camera.

We hope that you have enjoyed the story and the pictures.

Thank you kindly for supporting a post by @papilloncharity

This is what I call "wonder world". Amazing area for you to get in touch with wildlife creatures. Glad you let them come and go. We are actually living in a free world.

Oh, least I forget. I actually enjoyed that squirrel's tricks.

Thank you and yeah, we have a virtual paradise here.
As far as free goes, our belief is that all life, both human and animal is sacred and that it should be free.

Hahaha, yeah, the squirrels can certainly get up to things.

Thank you Lady Joan and we are boiling here in the last throes of summer.
They say that this side is 32C tomorrow, but we are traveling inland where it will be 35C.

Oh yes, even though I had to hose the odd cat near the tree, the dwarfies are still doing their thing.

Weekend reprieve from the heat has been most enjoyable, please don't send that back up the coast really hope winter comes soon....

Cats are doing what they do best, having a hose close to hand helps 😁

Nope, I don't think it will come your way Lady Joan, as our Cape Doctor. the South Easter was very angry this morning. It was so strong that no choppers could fly water to the fire in the Cape, but thankfully now the wind has stopped and it did enough to stem the fire.
They are all flying now and we heard that army choppers have joined the action, so we hope that the fire will soon be stopped.
Some serious damages were caused, especially to the library and some heritage properties

Blessings,

We had heavy gusting wind yesterday, nothing in comparison to the Cape, cooler overcast weather today. Hope those fires are under control and soon be put out, on match one person really equals devastation!

That wind yesterday was a blessing as it stayed the fire enough for the fire fighters to get it under control and then inexplicitly the wind laid down, so it was a miracle.
I am interested to know what the arson investigation will reveal as there were three of them and I hope that the one they caught will spill the beans.

Living in a dry country people don't take enough care in what they do, if this was intentional they should go to jail.

Consider every time toy-toy happens fires get started anywhere and everywhere, so perhaps another lesson to be taught from young...

(Edited)

I personally think that they should classify arson as a terrorist offence with a no fine 15 year jail sentence.
We just have to put an end to this madness.
Light a fire under any circumstances without permission and go straight to jail. No bail.

Makes a person heart-sore witnessing what was built being tossed aside, burnt or worse stolen, treason charges one never hears of anymore! So the show goes on....

Oh yes, the greedy serpents are getting very fat, but sooner or later there will be a great bushfire surrounding them. Yet, they continue to get the majority of the votes. Unbelievable, but there are not much else to vote on.

Smaller parties don't have sufficient money in the coffers to hand out a free T-shirt along with a food pack so there will be no change in the foreseeable future alas.

You can't pet them like your dog but they trust you and they belong to your big family zoo. These squirrels are so cute 😊

Oh yeah, we are careful not to make them too friendly with people Hannes.
The wild as you know belongs to the wild, but there is nothing that says that we cannot have fun with them.

Cheers and thanks for the beer, wine and pizza!

Ps. Too late to party tonight, but we will party tomorrow morning hahaha.

Right, the wild belongs to the wild, no matter how much I would like to cuddle or pet a bear 🤣

A true story here Hannes,

Yesterday the game rangers were patrolling and they spotted a shoe track. So they followed the track and they discovered tree poachers. The three guys dropped their stuff and ran away.
The rangers caught one of them and another one was not so lucky as he rounded a bush and ran into a herd of Elephants with babies. The Elephants trampled him to death.
They are still searching for the third one.

So yeah, I don't think you should even consider patting a bear, as you will certainly make headline news that will stay on trending for a very long time 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

One caught, one dead, one more to go - I hope they will find him.

I hope I will never meet a bear in the wild, at least not a hungry one 🐻

There are so many poachers here that one caught is not going to make any difference Hannes.
Apparently the syndicates work at the Mozambique side, as they know that the people there are poor.
So they supply the guys with high powered rifles and axes and then send them over our border to come and kill our Rhinos. They use the rifles to kill the Rhinos and the axes to cut our their horns.
They also take orders for other animals such as Pangolins (most traded), Giraffes and Elephants.
Everything that they get is shipped out and sold at very high prices.

Oh man, pray that you never meet a bear close up mate and in the meantime you should sharpen your wrestling skills. Just in case you know 🤣
A hungry bear is bad, but I hope that you don't meet a bear that wants to play rugby 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

No words to reply here, my friend, there's a complicated logic behind the thinking of these people which is hidden to my simple mind.

... rugby with a bear? Depends on my role 🤣🤣🤣

Nothing complicated my friend.
Syndicates are international and they corrupt at all levels, as money is their weapon. Greed is the downfall of many souls in high places and desperation drives the poor foot soldiers, as they have nothing.
So give a guy that lives in a shack a gun and tell him to go and kill a Rhino, then tell him that you will give him x amount of dollars for the horn and you will have an instant poacher.
Sad but true and then the poor guy's friends will also want guns.

Hahaha, I bet that you will be the victim, as there is no way that I can see a bear bend over for you 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Their way of thinking is too complicated for me, because I don't understand it, as well as I don't understand many other things that happened in the past or are happening these days in this world ...

Yep, I think you are right 😥
