Fishermen and wooden boats

Hello all!

Wooden boats and fishermen are two things that cannot be separated between the two of them, although the boat is small, it is very valuable for a traditional fisherman. The wooden boat has contributed a lot of contributions to his family in fishing fish.

Funding a family in this way is a matter of great concern if we trace their lives, but what the power of life is like that, he has skills in that field while in other fields they cannot.

The life story of traditional fishermen is a very unfortunate problem in this increasingly sophisticated era, because the current situation has many sophisticated fishing gear in fishing, but traditional fishermen and their boats remain in such a state, that is their fate today.

A fisherman who is in a wooden boat is one of the traditional fishermen who has been living this profession since generations passed down by their ancestors. This fishing activity by pulling a net made of thin threads only captures small fish that play in shallow waters or precisely in the estuary river channel in the local language called Aneuk ALue.

By using simple tools such as traditional fishing rods that have been made in such a way that it becomes one of the simple fishing gears by not damaging the underwater habitat.

The fishing rod mentioned earlier was able to get small fish that play under shallow water like,

  • Wooden fish
  • Tamban fish
  • Meunèng fish
  • Small grouper fish
  • Sikeuneng ikue fish
  • and many other fish found in these waters.

The traditional fishermen, almost every day carry out their duties on a schedule in accordance with the tides, if the tide drops at 3 pm then the fishermen leave at half past four then they return from fishing at the time before sunset.

If the sea water recedes at half past four in the morning then they leave at 4 am and they will return from their activities at 8 morning.

This schedule is adjusted to natural conditions that refer to tides. They have never complained of their search results in their work locations or in small river basins or estuaries where the water is stagnant as you can see in the picture.

The results they get also vary according to the season that is prevailing in nature, when there is a fish season, the results obtained are also many, so that they are able to support their families within a few days. However, when the water in the ocean does not match the natural conditions, the fish dwell in the reef, so the fishermen do not get their catch.

Even though sometimes they don't get results today, the fishermen still maintain this profession as they did before. They are the fishermen and the wooden boat are two things that can not be separated.

The traditional fishermen only have improvised equipment that is very environmentally friendly around them, although they take fish every day but they still maintain the marine habitat as it should.

That is the story of traditional fishermen who always try their luck at Muara Sungai or Aneuk ALue, which is a field seeking sustenance for them. Thank you very much.
