What Happened To Being Thankful?

I was reading @themarkymark's post last night with disbelief as users were asking him to please stop voting their posts. They felt by getting Marky's vote it was making them lose out on receiving bigger votes from other accounts.

I believe the users are the wolves in sheep clothing.

I just find it absolutely crazy as I am grateful for every vote that comes my way. I am fortunately one account who is supported by @themarkymark and appreciate this very much. Without his support many of my posts would struggle to get over $2 and that is the reality.

I never look at a post and say that this will make x amount as you just don't know. I gave up on that game years ago as it is a lottery with posts thatyou think are brilliant earning peanuts and others earning $$$. I find it absurd that users are having to do 4 or 5 posts daily fishing for a big upvote from certain accounts. How miserable must that be as in my mind you are looking at Hive in the exact opposite way that you should. How shit must your shit post be after the 5th post of the day. Not everyone has certain skills like a @tarazkp who switches from photography to a Hive post and pops in a poem at the end of the day. If I wrote 5 posts a day I wouldn't want to read any after the 3rd one as they would be utter crap by then and not worthy of any votes.

This is meant to be a fun place where you engage with other users whilst growing your stake. Hive is by no means a place to make a living from yet and shouldn't be seen in that way. I can understand some users meeting harsh times currently due to covid but Hive earnings wont amount to much unless you have laid solid foundations and have a large stake. I think that basically probably rules out 99 percent of us.

I know some users expect far more from their posts as they compare to what others are getting and it doesn't work like that. I see many posts that make $40 or more which are in my opinion not worthy of those rewards. It is not for me to say as many have been on here for years and have earned the right through hard work engaging with others. Why does one post make $3 and another $15 and if the authors swapped their posts over the $3 post would now be $15 and vice versa. This tells us in a majority of cases it is not the post, but the user that is being supported.

Writing a post and just expecting is a dangerous path to travel as it will lead into disappointment for most. I read somewhere recently that the average post on Hive makes somewhere around 30 cents so if you are making more then you are above average and should be grateful. Any Hive is better than no Hive and in years to come you will learn to understand the value of what you have achieved.

Many of us know what it is like to be there at that stage in your growth and engaging with others is how you grow support. Being active in the community and reading and commenting is the answer. Targeting certain accounts like @ocd or @appreciator is not the answer. The curators for these accounts are not dumb and gullible and can't be played with your milking the system games. If your rewards come from only one or two accounts then your support is weak which is worrying as things change on this place very quickly.

I know in many cases if your post reaches a certain amount then certain curation groups will pass you by and you should be happy as it should tell you that you are doing well. It seems to me that many users are finding Hive too easy to earn which isn't the case for the majority of us who spend hours researching and writing for fun. I know users where English is not their first language so it is doubly hard for them and takes them even longer to put a post together.

One should look at any Hive earned today as good Hive as one of these days Hive will be much harder to earn. Many have come and gone so if you are earning and growing then you are doing something right and should be proud of whatever you accomplish on here. People grow at different speeds so never compare yourself to someone else as it is not a race.

So true. And yeah... seeing people asking not to be upvoted is something I definitely wasn't expecting to see here! 😄

Wow, that is pretty crazy. I know I have been not getting votes from groups like GEMS because my posts make too much, but I would never ask someone who is actively supporting my content to stop. I just made the choice to move on from trying to get that GEMS vote. The other votes are guaranteed, that GEMS (or whatever group) vote is not. Absolutely silly...
