We are ๐ŸŽ‰ finally on the ๐Ÿ˜ news!

The reality?

(by @doze)

I think this will not take long... since the SPS airdrop landed, things have been changing quite a bit.

I mean, thousands of new users are arriving and it's just a matter of time for them to start exploring the already built "for the community" we all built for the last years that no one really damned to know just because the really one thing everyone wants to know the first thing someone ends on a "need to read something about blockchain" is... MONEY! ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

Well... get this!

It's not just about money... it's also about the future of decentralization. And we have all survived for a reason. Preparing for decentralization is a very BIG deal! It's not something that necessarily will start by profit... look at Bitcoin. Disrupting technologies start very veery veeeryyyyyy slow... until you can't catch them anymore...

Let's take, for example, the number of HIVE accounts created daily for the last months. Something to definitely celebrate for anyone around this community.

(by @penguinpablo)

Mostly (if not all for the meantime) driven from the influx of users arriving to play @splinterlands.

(by @peakmonsters)

It's real! ๐Ÿ˜Ž This is finally going to be in the news... Soonโ„ข๐Ÿคฃ (I meant it... even when playing with the words).

Now try to guess what will happen to the rest of the games ecosystem already in HIVE (that by the way I have written 2 long ones, you can check at the end of this post)? BOO๐Ÿ’ฅmmm! Right?

Proof?

(even if don't really need to)

How many of you have been trading on the internal HBD/HIVE market? Have you seen what's happening lately?

That's 10's of k's of dollars! Which go up and down yes... but to be honest I don't remember seeing so much of them for so long.

Remember those days, people saying... "buy while it's cheap!", the 20 cents kind of deal... well, now you might start understanding what we all meant about it.

Shall I mention HIVE-Engine?

Then it all gets even crazier... the volumes under the side-chain are CRAZY astronomical! Even if you don't yet really understand "dollar" wise... barely hidden under the internal market volumes.

There are A LOT of tokens already! Yes, this is all under the HIVE-Engine side-chain.

There is still a large amount of HIVE people that don't understand the full scope of HIVE-Engine... When they understand it, it's going to be STUNNING! Happy to tease you about it... (comment below)

Looking at the Diesel Pools, I can already see how crazy this thing will be. ๐Ÿ’•

To finish with my realization feeling

Even if I would love it, that I do, it's quite impossible to go through all the people, projects, initiatives, experiences across this blockchain. They are all recorded and one day will be "transformed" into the more beautiful pieces to be experienced with.

This is a real fun place to be exploring and learning about blockchain technology... I can't really believe it... 4 years! UAU

Amazing ๐Ÿค— feeling!

It's a great place to be for sure! Lots of communities and people to interact with for nearly everything you could imagine!

It is an exciting time to be in crypto. And we have a real product that will be worth a lot in a short amount of time

Not just a product... besides the fact we have MANY...

We have a user base, testers, devs, investors, account managers, lawyers, judges, IT's (of many kinds), entrepreneurs, you name it! It's just crazy how many skills are in this community.

Just makes me fight more for this future... my kids will own it... if it depends on me.

Almost... still, a long trip, but things are going in the right direction. More major users will test the balance of things. So it's important to keep the INTERnet ready for both big and small fish.

Splinterlands growth is so absurd that those guys seems to have ran out of cards. But it's nice that more and more people are joining up. Maybe hive could end up next on senate discussions that would give it huge publicity.

Yeah, the moment we get to those places there will be other challenges, because on this planet when it's all about balance, so, wherever there are good persons... you know the rest.

I didn't realize that there was over 1 million battles per day on Splinterlands on average...so I guess there are definitely a ton of users playing the game.

Yesterday all alone 2.5 million battles! And rising every day. Another market to keep a close look at is the daily volume... yesterday and now more stable, 300k USD! =) it's becoming something very interesting, especially if we start looking at the pools that support this volume.

Completely agree with you.

A lot of new users joined Hive just for Splinterlands but soon they will see how many projects Hive has, how many things they can do on Hive and they will see how nice its great community is.

Yeah... I will be closely checking out the development of this graph...

Do you see the amount of STEEM moved to exchanges back last year? that's a big warning!

As opposed to a centralized effect of the community, HIVE moving OUT of exchanges like it's happening to HIVE right now, is a very important signal. For now, it might mostly be due to HBD conversions, but even so, that's important.

Right, it's weekend time... let's go have some fun!

The most important thing that hive has to offer is a very extensive list of people willing to help in many ways. Tech support, testing, developing. All of this with users who have been on the platform for many years and ones that are just discovering it for the first time. Letโ€™s hope we can keep the pace and scale appropriately! I hope new witnesses arenโ€™t priced out of action by the cost to run a good node and we donโ€™t get new ones starting. I donโ€™t want to end up in the EOS situation where the exchanges control all of the witnesses.

Could not agree more with you. And having already tried the EOS side too, I completely understand the cause. One of the mistakes about these blockchains is to base the costs of the infrastructure on the supposed price increase of the token. And that does not always run that way. So, for me, the costs of supporting the network should scale with its usage (hence the RC being monetizable is a very important step of this blockchain).

In regards to more witnesses, that is (should be) independent of the network infrastructure. At least towards the voting part of who produces blocks. And once the RC delegation is here, things will change. To be honest, any business can support the network even if they don't produce blocks. In my view, they are separate things. Although who is a witness has the additional burden to also (if possible) support the network with API nodes, etc (although is not mandatory, usually people will only vote if you do have because of the size/decentralization of the current network).

Example: Splinterlands need to run big API nodes for their game backend to be quickly reacting to the blockchain changes and because they also need to have control in case other members of the network have network problems. Hence this makes a business like theirs effectively support the network (being a witness or not). Aka anyone can point at their Hive API for blockchain broadcasting.

For now, and like you said, it's very important to help one another. Who is here for already some years have that responsibility if one would like to see the full potential of this community. Everyone can help, their way, with what they know most about. And that's the beauty of this community, diversity!

Enjoy! ;)

Great example with Splinterlands. They indeed have to run a badass cluster of witness nodes to ensure that if anything, their servers are running in tip top shape. They help us a lot!

I don't know a whole lot about the RC delegation stuff yet and how they could monetize that but I'm sure I'll get up to speed in the near future. It sounds intriguing! I'm glad that I'm powering up lots of hive lately, going to help get me more RC power and hive power to swing around!

I think the diversity on here is remarkable for sure! Thereโ€™s people from all walks of life and can help people in a litany of ways. Iโ€™m helping my guild mates in Splinterlands learn the game but at the same time also learn how to post, interact and do things here on hive. I want them in my guild but since they are on the chain already, I think it would be great to get them hooked on the communities and all that as well!

One of the major developments over the last year or so has been the dramatic reduction in the cost of running Hive nodes and the increased capacity of every node.

Witness nodes can be run on basic PCs and even API nodes can be run on more powerful mainstream PCs.

No need for $20k+ servers like EOS.

That's a great tease for me =) might start running a witness node on HIVE too (again)... especially because I would run it from home, not from somewhere out I don't control.

Yeah I would love to run one from home if our internet wasn't trash lol

Yeah I've seen and really enjoyed that aspect! I think that was a huge improvement by the Blocktrades clan! After those improvements I think the chain has gotten a lot more stable than it was previously which is great.

If our internet didnโ€™t suck I would convert my spare desktop PC into a witness but hopefully when we move we will get better internet!

The only thing I missed are the Diesel Pools. Where can I read up about that?

Thanks for your celebratory post, can't be long before many people learn about Hive and want to be part of the fun :-)

Diesel pools are available on HIVE-Engine via https://tribaldex.com/dieselpools/pools

These are liquidity pools that offer also (some) rewards besides a little percentage (depends on each of them) of the slippage that can occur when swapping tokens between a certain token pair.

In some games like dcity.io for example, they also offer other rewards, like SWAP:HIVE:SIM power. On SWAP.HIVE:DEC for splinterlands, they count for SPS airdrop. Depends... each creator (of the pool) can make their own rules.

More about it here (ecency search engine is amazing for this):

What does the pool do?

Does it get tainted dough into bread?

It does... you put water on one side, flour on the other... and then because there are so many orders that your dough transforms into more water and flour. Sometimes, people like the stuff so much that there are people offering you chorizo for you to continue the job.

:P
