Hive fork announcement (@smooth and @burnpost)

avatar
(Edited)

I will be fully migrating to the new fork, Hive.

My main accounts on Steem will be fully powered down and sold, and the proceeds used to buy more Hive tokens to power up.

@burnpost on the Steem chain will wind down with an immediate power down of the full balance, sent to @null. Posts will cease.

@burnpost on the Hive chain will resume posts and maintain the algorithmic bot which converts/burns/powers-up depending on the HDB price.

See you on the other side.

This is a burn post (100% null beneficiary)

I will start the power-down now too. I wanted to do it after the airdrop, but I think there will not be any change in terms of how many HIVE tokens I get.

Let's go!

Power up or power down does not change your Hive tokens. Both are copied over to the new chain.

Haha, thanks Smooth: let me complete my 1800 Steem powerdown then. I was afraid i wont get some airdrop.

So if let’s say on Friday 10am eastern I have 5 days left until my next power down, I would immediately have 5 days left until my next HP power down?

Yes and in that case the power down will happen on both chains. Your SP will power down on the Steem chain and produce STEEM, and your HP will power down on the Hive chain and produce HIVE.

After the fork, anything you do on either chain will be completely independent of the other chain.

There is about ~340M Steem in the supply
-65M - Steemit Inc

If these exchanges that powered up don't support the drop

binance-hot 30M
huobi-withdrawal 7M
poloniex - 2M
Supporters of centralization ??M

The Hive supply would be about 240M - does that sound right?

I am guessing that the exchanges will try to support considering that they might open themselves to legal action for not due to the locking of customer coins. But, they might not care or have time to enact the changes they need.

Regardless, this would mean that the Hive supply would be almost identical to the initial mine supply with the difference that it is spread among tens of thousands (real users) of accounts + alts.

Do you think that this would make a significant difference 4 years from now?

I don't think the supply numbers themselves make much difference. The larger community does and not having a largest and by far dominant stakeholder which was an unaccountable and arguably bad actor for at least 2-3 of those four years makes a big difference. I am optimistic, but there are no guarantees of success for any crypto. Objectively speaking, experience with many projects and coins suggest that the odds are long and the challenge extreme, but possible.

There are definitely no guarantees... I am hoping that having a wide range of active accounts will make a difference though, and potentially the steem stuck out on the exchanges not getting a drop might too.

I was searching for some reports and came across this:

"25 reasons Steem will replace bitcoin"

Where is Jerry... ;D

Jerry was a special man per se.
Some how He had a witness and you can feel something was not right with him.

A witness is just a server. It isn't hard to run. Much harder to code.

How do you benefit from the fork? Will all steem users automatically benefit or is there a certain exchange they must join? How do you make sure you benefit from the fork please?
PS-I am not against vaccines, I am pro-choice. My body my choice!

What about @burnpost powers down, buys hive and burns it too?

Good suggestion. I thought about that but decided that it violates the policy stated for the use of @burnpost rewards and donations (that they will be burned and not sold). Even though I don't and won't support the Steem chain, I'm still going to honor my commitments with respect to it.

Sick and slick, I think your right about this decision and I think you're a very decent person. You 100% sure didn't take this lightly.

Do you know if there will be some rules on witnesses regarding "seasoning" so new witnesses can't just come in and take over control? For instance, accounts should have 6 months or 1 year of proven track record of good performance before becoming eligible to be a witness.

Being in the process of powering down wont cause any problems right? When the airdrop happens, will i also be automatically powering down my hive tokens?

Yeah everything will be 1:1 bro no worries! My guess is that you won't be powering down your HIVE tokens cause it's a different chain. I think only your Token Balance will be copied.

Hello can any you explain how much hive blockchain supply and where it will be listed and when

Thank You

Total supply will be the same. Some accounts not being honored with the airdrop (mostly the Steemit ninja-mine accounts) will have equivalent tokens reserved in the DAO account.

Listings I don't know, look for announcements from exchanges or contact them if you want to request it.

Right there with you. I started the power down yesterday and I have the exact same plan.

I admire you are a true man. Unlike some people, shouting in support of Hive, but they continue to run witnesses of Steem.

I published an article about DTube being fully compatible with Hive a few hours ago. A few minutes later I noticed @dtube being added to @spaminator black list no absolutely no reason. I believe @spaminator is somehow controlled by @themarkymark with his Global Blacklist API (funded by the DAO).

After complaining, the unfair blacklist for the @dtube account was removed. I was told it was an accident.

But now, 1 hour later:

The post had 150+ community members upvotes, and 1 evil witness downvote has turned the article to 0 visibility.

Hive is not censored? Let me laugh...

Time to clean up your ranks from the rotten ones, Hive witnesses.
