What do you think?
This morning I have woken up badly, some runny nose, slight sore throat, some discomfort in the back... as if I had caught a cold or seasonal allergy.
The fact is that my son tested positive last Saturday and, although he only had a fever on Sunday, he continues to test positive so he has been confined to his room since then following school classes by videoconference.
We, being direct contact, also have to remain confined at home although I must admit that I have gone running these last few days...
Well, going back to the subject, I have done an antigen test and the result at first seemed clearly negative, but after about 30 minutes and under the light of the lamp, I have come to perceive a shadowy second line (see the right specimen).
My wife says it's a POSITIVE, I question it.
Due to this discussion, and since I have symptoms, I have decided to do another antigen test, from another manufacturer, with a clear negative result.
I have read somewhere that antigen tests can give false negatives but not false positives...
I don't know what to do now, should I go for a PCR? or is the diagnosis clear?
What do you think?
After 30 minutes the test can't be trusted anymore. So in my opinion you weren't positive according to that test.
any test can give false positives, the only question is how high is the false positive rate. If those 30 min you waited didn't exceed the maximum time limit that the test can be read I'd consider it positive.
If you have symptoms, do the CPR test. In UK they are for free on any corner. Or you can order by mail.
I doubt whether you're really positive, but would always go for a PCR. Just in case (and to prevent a matrimonial crisis ;)).

Idk what to think about these tests anymore!
Better go for a PCR to be sure Eddie!
It's the vaccine Eddie. It's weakening your immune system. Someone like that's so good in shape naturally wouldn't be in this position. I don't trust the tests and neither the vaccines, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't treat the cold. I had it twice in a month :))
No my friend, it's COVID... I get the results from the PCR right now, in any case, so far is being not too hard
Wish you all the best and fast recovery
