What are your NON resolutions for 2022 and are you taking part in power up day?

Happy New Year Hive!

Hope everyone is safe and healthy and looking forward to a bright 2022. We've been up all night as our 3 year old son has been puking every hour.

So a quiet new years day here in London for me involving a lot of sofa time looking after my son with regular trips to reload the washing machine with all the towels and bedding that got sick on in the night...

TDC Tunes New Year 2021.jpg

I'm still thinking about resolutions and goals for 2022 and am currently looking at a long list of ideas - more of a menu really at this stage.

I've also been thinking about things I DON'T want to do or will decide to say no to this year. I think this can be as important and powerful as setting goals. Deciding to leave out certain things which don't benefit us can help create time, space and energy for things that really matter.

I'll take my time in the next few days figuring out what those things are and report back - but in the mean time - I'm wondering if you folks have any NON goals or resolutions? Is there anything you've decided to NOT do in 2022 or that you will say no to?

It would be cool to get a few ideas and compile a list of non-resolutions from Hive for 2022...

It is also of course the 1st of the month too so I am taking part in:

Hive Power Up Day #hivePUD and just powered up 100 Hive.

Power Up Helper
For which I just powered up the awesome mastering engineer and musician @fatasfunk

Hive Power Up Month #hivepum for which I've set my posting payout to 100% powered up and will be either posting or powering up at least 1 hive every day in January!

More info about all three here: https://peakd.com/hivebuzz/@hivebuzz/pud-202201

From my experience of doing power up month in November 2021, it is quite a challenge, but it is really a great way to keep focused and keep growing your Hive account!

Let's see if I can manage every day of the month for the second time!

Hope you son improves soon.

I'm not making any lists, but there are things I want to do this year. I want to keep working on my music skills and my band should have a few gigs, COVID permitting. I will also keep running. The thing I need to do less of is procrastinating!

Happy new year!

Happy new year to you and yours! I hope your son is feeling better now. It's tough when kids get sick.

Non resolutions. Wow, that's actually good advice to start the year!

I've also been thinking about things I DON'T want to do or will decide to say no to this year. I think this can be as important and powerful as setting goals. Deciding to leave out certain things which don't benefit us can help create time, space and energy for things that really matter.

Very good advice indeed! If you haven't thought of what to do, perhaps knowing what you don't want to do will narrow down the list. I'll keep this in mind as I work on my list of goals.

Hey thanks so much for the well wishes. My son is still not his usual energetic self but is much much better so I think it was just a tummy bug. And I managed to wash all the towels and bedding so the smell of sick is banished from the house!

Well done on the 4 kids - that's a hard core achievement!

Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year and fantastic 2022!

Hey thanks so much! Well it could have been worse. He was demanding to go in his paddling pool between bouts of being sick (in January in England!) so I was pretty sure he wasn't going to have anything super serious!

All better now anyway ready to go back to Nursery tomorrow and pick up the next illness :)

And yes it is worth it - thanks loads for commenting and have a great week!

I am not a massive list writer, feel like I have overdone that in 2021... so there you go less time making lists, less time to procrastinate, as @steevc said.

Less procrastinating
Less bad snacks
Less worrying about stuff that probably isn't going to happen anyway
Less time in my inbox

Get back into some cycling
Stick to Gym on certain days
Keep up kayaking, something I discovered in 2021 and have become hooked on
Spending more time in better focused online communities
Music, hope to find time to explore more again in Ableton, VCV, Bitwig etc -> last year I got heavily into Aum

Ooh goodie some really solid resolutions and NON resolutions there!

I know what you mean about lists. I do have a goals list for each year but it's a short text list that I review fairly regularly and am allowed to change if the year brings opportunities or my priorities change for a good reason.

I also have a todo list - but I've done away with anything complicated and again have a very simple and short text based list.

I hadn't heard of Aum - so are you recording on an iPad then with it?

I like the idea of a goals list better and I may write one up, probably as quickly as I can and as you say, embellish it with a little more detail throughout the year. It's hard to know what the year will bring entirely, there are some certainties which I will blog about as they happen.

Have you ever come across Obsidian? I do use that for note making and documenting what I learn throughout the year. In conjunction with the Readwise app, I capture paragraphs and quotes when I see them which are added to my Obsidian vault... ok there is an article here, series of articles to post.

Aum, yes it is an iOS app (maybe there is an Android version) and it's more of a mixer into which you can channel various software instruments, apps that use the AU protocol. You can consider the approach as being "modular" to a degree. It's an addictive thing because I'm not a musician in the normal sense of the word, but I understand the theory quite well. There are a number of tools for creating organic rhythms, fugue patterns and a whole host of different things... another series of potential posts!!!

I hadn't come across Obsidian before but I'm checking it out now - thanks for the tip!

At the moment for note taking I'm using SimpleNote - because mostly I just want a simple text only note taking facility that syncs across my devices and that's it. I've used a load of others in the past but I found they always add more features and formatting that eventually make things harder for what I need - simple text only unformated text!

Hi Tim, thanks a lot for Powering me up bro!! Much appreciated. Sorry to hear your New Years Eve was a sick-fest, I hope your son is on the mend now. Good idea about the list... Hmmm.... I will have a think of some non-resolutions. One resolution I will do is to meditate more & start doing my affirmations again, as for some reason I lost momentum of both last year. Happy New Year & all the best :)

No problem - and definitely interested in any non resolutions you come up with!

I've been trying to meditate on and off (more off than on) for a few years but have never got the habit to stick. Still.. it's on the list once again for 2022!
