WHO WANTS A HOUSE WITH NO WINDOWS?

KIMG4951.JPG

I can't imagine living in a home with no windows. That is what inspired me to install a window into the chicken coop. I think they would like having a window to look out, so I got the supplies I needed to get started.

A couple of pieces of plexi-glass, a few screws and a little tube of sealant was all I needed. I then gathered up my saw and drill and got started.

First, I drew out the lines on the wall where I wanted the window.(Ensuring it was at a perfect height so my little feathered friends could see out.)

Then, as you may have noticed in the above picture, I simply used my saw to cut along the lines. When I was through I had a perfect square.(Well, good enough for my easy to please chickens.πŸ˜‚πŸ€£)

TIME FOR THE WINDOW

Using some sealant that I had, I put a small bead all the way around the opening I had made in the wall. Then I pressed the plexiglass against the wall and the sealant held it in place while I went to working putting a few screws in.

*The plexiglass comes with a protective plastic sheet, make sure you take it off both sides before you install it.

THEN I JUST REPEAT...

After that was done, I used the other piece of plexiglass on the inside of the coop using the same process as before.

TAKING CARE OF THOSE WHO TAKE CARE OF US

Our hens provide us with three to five delicious and nutritious eggs each day. They provide food for us each day, so it was a labor of love and gratitude installing a window for them.

I believe they will be even happier now and will live longer healthier lives, which in turn is also great for us. And with a view of the pasture like this...

How could they not be happier? As a matter of fact it only took them a few minutes after I was done to wander over to see what I had been up to.😁😁
