The Fantastica Chronicles (Day 366)

Hello Everyone!

A brief introduction: Hi I am Jacob.

TL;DR: There is no tl;dr because you should have more patience and attention span than a gnat on a high wind.

The Fantastica Chronicles Day 366!

A Long Day, Winding Down The Storage Saga & Keeping it Short And Sweet

It has been an incredibly long day and I am glad that I was up by seven this morning to face it even though now I am dragging ass and rather damn fatigued to boot. I knew it was going to be a long one so first thing this morning I doubled up on my espresso and did all my morning routine (and chores like shoveling the dog shit onto the compost) before nine o'clock. It had been a rainy night so things were rather mucky outside but at least it was mildly cool and stayed overcast for much of the day which was pretty nice.

My big goal today was to get as much of the stuff from under (and inside) the camper moved to the shelter area as possible and also to sort through everything, consolidate it, give some stuff away to my fellow homesteaders and throw away anything that was more or less junk. Sounds pretty simple right? It actually was not all that hard to get stuff consolidated and moved especially since a fellow homesteader helped me carry the heavier stuff but when it came to actually throwing stuff away I have to admit that damn I just do not want to part with anything because I know how valuable the 'right' screw is or the random piece of wire or whatever can be when I really need it! I did it though and at this point I am pretty much done with both the giving away and throwing away of stuff and for as much as I dreaded doing it... it was not all that bad after all!

I wound up filling the entire shelf under the new addition with stuff and although I could probably squeeze a few more things atop the stuff that I stored there I do not think that I will just out of concern for potentially overloading the 'lightweight' shelf that I built there. I also like the idea that I can actually pull stuff out from the storage area there without it being a hassle. All in all the shelf is now serving its purpose rather well even though I could not quite fit everything on it that I was initially thinking of storing on it and wound up putting some things in the greenhouse instead.

Towards the end of the day I heard from the owner of the camper and it looks like I will have a few more days than I initially thought that I would to finish getting everything moved out of it and to also do the rest of that demolition work that they want done inside of it. As much as it would be kind of nice to 'drag my feet' over the next several days getting the rest of my stuff moved I am planning on just finishing up the moving of stuff tomorrow and then focusing on the demolition over the following days.

Well, I had more that I wanted to write about but I am fading fast tonight and better just wrap this up and get it edited and posted. I hope that everyone is doing well and has a nice day/night.

Thanks for reading!

More about me: I have been doing property caretaking (land stewardship) for many years (decades) and live a rather simple life with my dogs doing what most folks would consider to be an 'alternative minimalist lifestyle' but what I often just think of as a low-impact lifestyle where I get to homestead and spend the majority of my time alone with my dogs in the woods doing projects in the warmer months and taking some downtime during the colder months.

A little over three years ago I began sharing the adventures (misadventures) of my life via writing, videos, pictures and the occasional podcasts and although my intention was to simply share my life with some friends it undoubtedly grew into much more than that over the years and now I find myself doing what equates to a full-time job just 'sharing my life' which is not even all that glamorous or anything but hey folks seem to enjoy it so I just keep doing it!

The way that the Fantastica Chronicles came about is that I was living at another place when I started chronicling and sharing my days but eventually I wound up moving to a new place. The new place is a homestead named 'Fantastica' so I started with 'Day 1' upon my arrival here and just kept documenting my days much like I had done for the previous nine hundred and fifty-seven days at the last place that I lived.

I have mostly done that 'documenting' at Fantastica exclusively with words (and pictures) opting not to do the videos because as I learned at the last place, sharing videos over an intermittent and slow internet connection is horribly time consuming and what I often think of as an 'ulcer inducing' experience. All that said, I opted for simplicity with the documentation and have no real regrets for doing so.

The way that I look at it is that I give it all my best each day and while some stuff I write is better than others I think that for the most part I do a pretty good job at doing what I am doing which is simply 'sharing my life' as candidly as I possibly can and whatever folks get (or do not get) from it there is always the satisfaction of me doing what I set out to do... which is to simply share my life.
