It is my pleasure to introduce you to a member of the Flower Longhorn Beetle family. I found this nifty little guy hanging out on my Day Lilly buds in late spring / early summer of 2019 while looking for macro photo subjects around my yard.

These guys come in all shapes and sizes, but all generally have similar long antennae and eat mostly pollen and nectar once adults. They are believed to be active pollinators, but their ultimate pollination impact is unknown.

Though their larva are wood borers, they generally aren't considered tree damaging pests. Except for a few specific types such as one that targets apple tree roots, the little damage they do is not considered detrimental to most tree species.

I hope you have enjoyed this macro look into the micro world of the Flower Longhorn Beetle.
