Introduction Post - beelzebubba

I was told that I should do one of these so here we go.

The name "beelzebubba" was the name of an album I bought when I was quite young and it was a great example of how times have changed over the years.

0000512641_350.jpg

The Dead Milkmen were a punk rock band in the 80's and 90's who kind of tapered off and still tour from time-to-time but for the most part it is a relatively dead project including one of the members who actually did die in 2004, unfortunately by drug overdose.

The Dead Milkmen would probably not be accepted today even though their entire "thing" was to push buttons and say controversial things. They jokingly refer to a lot of topics in their songs such as certain members of society such as people who live in the trailer park being really stupid in one of my favorite songs they ever made called "Stuart"

The fact that they even said the word "queers" in this song would start a twitter outrage mob in an instant in 2019. This song didn't encourage anyone to hate homosexuals, it simply referred to them as such, which was the way things were in the mid 80's.

Another song which i find hilarious but would almost certainly get me (and them) doxxed and thrown in jail is a very short song called "Takin retards to the zoo"

I suppose this was supposed to be an introduction about me so I'll get back on track.

I live in Greenville, North Carolina and this place is a pretty good mix of rednecks meeting civilization. There are plenty of country folks in the area, and there is also a massive Marines base nearby. One of the largest universities in the state is also in this city and there are around 30,000 students here. So we have a pretty eclectic mix of individuals in the area.
images (1).jpg
The green dot is Greenville

I would consider myself a redneck and I am not at all ashamed of that. I pronounce the name of my city as "Green-volle." I prefer a Bud Light to a fancy craft beer, I talk with a southern twang, my family is very important to me, and I am not embarrassed about the fact that I am not very well-traveled. I don't want to travel to be honest with you. I like to stay local.

A lot of people look down on that but to me, I just don't really want to explore when I like what it is that I have here. I don't see the point. Perhaps I am missing out on a world view but I am not closed minded, I just don't want to do that.... is that so wrong?

I plan to participate in groups about sports, video games and how i suck at most of them, and sports that we play in USA... no offence, but I don't need any more sports, we have plenty of them here already. Even though we have a professional hockey team just about an hour from my house, I don't really even care very much for that. Give me my baseball, basketball, and NFL and I am pretty set.

images (2).jpg

I love my Panthers... but unfortunately we are terrible this season and have no chance of making the playoffs

Despite being a proud country boy, I do NOT like NASCAR. A great many of my friends and family are and I call them rednecks for it.

So i guess that's it for now.

By the way, if anyone reads these things: This Steemit interface is pretty terrible... i can't find anything inside of it. I have heard of other interfaces that make poking around and finding / saving groups and topics a bit easier so if you have any recommendation for that sort of thing i would appreciate it.

This Steemit interface is pretty terrible... i can't find anything inside of it.

I agree, it's changed little since I started.. try steempeak.com, it's much nicer.

Oh and welcome.., your post stood out from the rest of the 40 word introductions today.

I would consider myself a redneck and I am not at all ashamed of that.

I'm OK with that, but I'm not American :)

This might help a bit, Steemit and it's dApps are different than most social media sites. You can do the wrong things if not careful.

Thanks for the welcome. That guide link you provided is very helpful. I'll try to integrate all that into my future postings. This is fun :)

i noticed the part in your post about using other people's images in your posts. I am already guilty of that and didn't realize it was a rule. However, when i look around at other posts i see lots of images that are not the writer's own and they put a source at the bottom of the pic or page. Is this acceptable? The things i want to talk about such as sports and what not is going to be very difficult if not impossible to get images that I actually took myself.

I'll look into this on my own if you don't have time to answer it. I don't want to start breaking the rules right out of the gate if you know what i mean :)

Howdy beelzebubba! Found out about you because you commented on my post yesterday. Did you get the answers here about using other's photos? I almost exclusively use others because I rarely take any myself.

Congratulations! Your post has been selected as a daily Steemit truffle! It is listed on rank 6 of all contributions awarded today. You can find the TOP DAILY TRUFFLE PICKS HERE.

I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 3 SBD worth and should receive 178 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.

Welcome to Steemit @beelzebubba. Thanks to Steemit you pretty much don't need to leave the country to see the ideas and minds of the people around the world.

I currently live at the other side of the world but I must say, I do agree with you; words we used to say actually was just pointing out facts even as simple as fat / skinny / warts never really hurt people (unless you use it as a bullying intension), but if you even mention these (less "triggering") words you probably might get sued or worse, run down by a SJW crusade (even if you decided to apologise)

Funny how things are so bad it makes sense to certain people.

As for interfaces, yes you can try steempeak. It even allows you to schedule your post when you are busy.

In the end, being proud of your culture or your upbringing is no problem, let's just not intent to shove it onto others (who are not in the same lifestyle) to obey our ways would probably be an ideal start of friendships, without borders in cyberspace.

Cheers from the far far East of the world

although it has already been said a few times, I agree that steempeak is the way to go. You don't need to download anything just login at steempeak.com instead of steemit.com and you're good to go. Once you figure out their interface and what not you can save your favorite people and groups for easy navigation. Unless I've missed something it is IMO the best interface out there.

I think I remember that album, did it have "Punk Rock Girl" on it? That and "It's the Guitar!" (probably the wrong name of the song) are the only Dead Milkmen songs I remember.

Totally agree with you about today's PC culture. It is one of the reasons why I can't really see myself moving back to the USA.

Oh, and welcome bro! when this post pays out make sure you claim the rewards in your wallet because I am certain you are going to be facing a "resource credit" limitation warning if you ever try to respond to all of these messages.

Yeah it helps them out a lot. I have not forgotten what a struggle it was for me in the beginning.

I looked at steempeak and wow, it is vastly superior? Forgive my ignorance but why isn't that the default interface? Oh, and thanks for the delegation @jacobpeacock ... i was really confused when the resource credits thing popped up.

i'll try to keep it as real as possible. I think i would be considered a rather fringe redneck. Sometimes i feel like an ambassador for the community because a lot of my friends are not country at all.
Thanks for the message

Welcome to the Steemit community @beelzebubba!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for and have found a new home here.

Eight suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions, keychain and steemconnect,
  3. The master password is only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your passwords; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit,
be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own.
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once, and
  7. When you open your steemit.com, in the upper right corner of the page there are 3 bars. Click on those, and then on the "welcome", and you will get a lot of reading material that will help you.
  8. Do NOT open any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

I found you because @xcountytravelers and @brittandjosie from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and need some guidance, or if you have any questions, there are informed Steemians available who can help you; you can click to go to the Steem Terminal in Discord here:
