Better Late than Never - My STEEM Introduction Post! 🎉

Formal Meet and Greet on the Blockchain! 🥳🍻

P.S I invite you to read before getting your copy/paste comment snippets ready - I'm not brand new you silly Steemers!

-peeks through the curtain nervously before walking out onto the stage-

Well, hello there everyone! I do apologise as I had meant to make this one of my first posts on STEEM but things got away from me and to be honest - I went away from blogging on STEEM pretty much right after joining. Yes, I found some place that I liked better; STEEM just seemed too confusing, too much of an exclusive community, and I don't even want to get in to how distant the development/administrators seemed to be back when I first came here in January.

Especially for me who utilizes all available avenues for earning free crypto, earning while blogging is a huge factor for me, the writer who writes too much! It didn't seem to be the place for me though, mind you I was just a new egg to the whole blogging thing as it was too. :(
I only made a few posts here but to compare the same few posts on the other platform I use performed a lot better than they did on STEEM, and the community and development team over there seemed a lot more open and accepting. (there is some kind of exclusivity and stuck up attitudes running rampant with a handful of circles in the STEEM sphere it seems..)

But enough about that, let's get to me.

Hello, let me Introduce myself! 💋

I have come back to STEEM due to a dApp I had been wanting to use that is exclusive to this blockchain... I love to game and I've especially become interested in games where we can earn cryptocurrencies through playing!

I wasn't so much into using dApps when I first started with crypto due to the fact I never had enough and just started using faucets to collect all my earnings. But now I have farmed those faucets (still do) and played enough crypto poker that I have a little bit of coin to fool around with.
So with that I had started trading on exchanges too, and uninstalled my Android games so they could get replaced with some blockchain dApps!!

This is my life basically; Music, Writing, Rhyming, Playing, Earning...
I'm on the internet all day and have no other life besides what I do on my computer.. But so what, I am happy and that is all that matters. You might not like what I do but that shouldn't be the reason to judge me poorly. My prerogative in life is all about being happy when it comes to your end.
I have no huge life goals of a mansion or hundreds of dollars, no huge goal of a dream wedding [I don't want to ever legally marry actually, and I am a woman!] I am more than fine never growing up, gaming my whole life and just being content to sit silently listening to music and painting with my paint markers.

Yep. I'm a 30 year old kid. Shouldn't matter to anyone if I 'grow up' or not. Live your life as an adult, see how well that does you personally on your death bed ... just saying.

my dog and I snuggled in bed
My partner in crime, have never been apart since he was 5 weeks old

My only real purpose I care to pursue in life is doing whatever I want to do that will provide me happiness until the day I die. If I don't live my life and be happy, what is the point of living? I don't feel I should have to sacrifice anything in my life if that sacrifice would make me unhappy in the long run.
That's just me, but I feel as long as we as people are happy in life then why should it matter to anyone else how we live it?

At 30 years old I feel that I am starting to get old. I didn't feel this way in my 20s. It's funny, at 28 I felt as young as a 16 year old but now nearly 3 years later I feel as old as a grandma! I have been through a lot these past few years though, I've been through some things that I never imagined I'd go through in my life. I had a good upbringing, my parents were childhood sweethearts and still together all these years later, and we never wanted for anything.
I had good jobs from the moment I got out into the workforce, my resume is professional and I have a great work ethic, but no matter what, no one is immune to anything in life and we should never take anything we have for granted. I've also learned to never assume that a homeless person is just lazy, or that a drug addict just wants to get high.. Yes I lived through homelessness for over a year in 2017-2018, my dog and I sleeping outside in a stupid town where it's illegal to be homeless (a post about how I ended up here is in the works too).

Sepia image of me

Not sure how I am supposed to do my identity verification, but I'm KharmaScribbles - or a variation of it - on any social media, websites, games, you name it.

@KharmaTweets is my Twitter which has got to be over 10 years old by now, I've shared a few of my posts there already and will of course share this one. I'm on Reddit and Keybase as well. Facebook I actually have two but I'm migrating to using Kharma Scribbles more now. Facebook was the only place I used my real name in Public and it has started to bother me now so pseudonym it is!

Come play Monsters with me!

Besides gambling at crypto casinos (no slots, I love poker and blackjack and various other table card games!) my most active gaming right now is done playing Splinterlands! Come join me and maybe we will meet up in matchmaking!

Between blogging and playing, I try to find some time to scribble some poetic lines or sketch a few doodles which you can be sure I'll be sharing with you! Creativity is a huge part of me; I may notbe great at it but I try!
Oh, some of my life stories might even make you cry!

Well, there is so much more you all don't know about me but a few stories I've already started to write, so maybe one night I'll be satisfied enough to share the deeper personal stuff.. but until then, make sure the #music-always-loops!

Hi and welcome here! When I started on steemit, my biggest problem was to find interesting people to interact with. So, to help newcomers getting started I created a directory with other interesting and or talented steemians to follow or interact with. Feel free to check it out at https://www.steemiandir.com I am sure it will help you find like-minded people. Enjoy your stay here and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

I appreciate that you've started your intro by bringing up the snobbery here lol.

You should know things officially change next week here as far as the economics go, and in fact since this post will pay out after the hardfork it's subjected to the upcoming changes..

The climate here is even worse now a year later but I'll let you form your own opinions. I'm not a, gamer but I do love poker.. Interested what crypto poker you're playing ?

Best wishes glad you're off the streets!

I had to be brutally honest how I felt about it, especially since I had the exact same feelings coming back, I was like yep, this is STEEM alright LOL

However, Tribes/tokens weren't a thing back then, and I feel like Tribes have helped a slight bit, at least it is a lot easier to find like minded, welcoming positive people now.. Before they were all hiding because there was no way for them to band together, now they are easier to see.. So there is that much improvement anyway.

I am sooo curious what changes this HF21 is bringing.. I have been trying to find solid absolute fact but just keep seeing about these SMT tokens (which are already super late as they are) -- are these going to change things so much? The atmosphere was making me expect BIG changes but I can't imagine SMT's are responsible for that much?!

Thanks for reading and saying hello!

Smts aren't included in this HF actually.. It's the rewards curve, 10% going to a, proposal group, and 50/50 split on creator/curator rewards..

Posted using Partiko Android

Mm... I dunno about the 50/50.. I think 75% to someone who created the content to curate in the first place was pretty fair already..

Oh yes, An entire 10% to the proposals? From the reward pool?
Is that like, to fund blockchain development - even though with this hardfork coming it appears there is already development going on.. so I do need to look into what this new thng will be :)

Looks like you've got the gist of it. I apologize for being so succinct, it's just been talked about to death. That's not fair to not give you a proper description or at least link you to some good explanations. But, it seems you understand the basics and TBH unless you have a lot of SP it really doesn't matter too much as the rewards are negligible anyway.. I'll try to find a good explanation if you're interested though.

10% to fund dev from the reward pool yep.. The idea is to encourage the bad actors that are currently making 4x what they can from curation alone from self voting to actually curate. The entire package including free downvotes Myst be used to make this work. That's right free Flags! Everyone will get one free 100% flag to use to encourage downvotes as now there's no incentive and nothing to gain except potential retaliation.. Of course retaliation will still be a thing therefore lil ol skramatters won't be flagging any whales.. Well I might bc I dont care but I don't think my not even a penny flag will matter..

Look into creativecoin for your writing and palnet.. I'm not into the tribes but they could do good things with a real community in the future.. Smts are still needed as unlike the tribe tokens they're directly produced from the blockchain whereas the scot tribe coins are second layer and I think it's still centralised but don't quote me on that..

Oh man - you're the first person who made me realise the tokens weren't native to the chain.. I was wondering what SCOT was and why it was involved - guess I should have checked that out LOL I

I was wondering why everyone was so excited about SMTs I'm like What the Fuck is the difference LOL

Wes! Great to see you could make it to my party! 🍻

I actually follow someone who is part of the Freewritehouse because I have been wanting to get involved in it but for some reason - don't know if it's intimidation or lack of confidence or what but I just can't seem to get going on them!!

I will have to really try and force myself to just do one, the hard part is always the first one!

I wasn't aware about your own movement and I will have to take a look. Maybe starting with you will warm me up for Freewrite - don't know what it is about that one, looks too professional for a newbie like me I think LOL

Hi, welcome to SteemIt. Good luck on your Steem journey and I wish you the best. I've been here since 2016 but it was only last June when I fully committed to take Steem seriously. Please feel free to read my STEEMJOURNEY.

Here are also some tools that I use and I hope you can find them useful too:

  1. Use Partiko App from your mobile phone to post to your blog, comment, and upvote content in SteemIt to earn points which you can use to boost your own content.
  2. If you’re into games, you may wanna try playing Steem Monsters, a blockchain game based on Steem. It lets you compete with other players around the world with creature cards which you can sell and/or convert to crypto.
  3. Get rewarded for staying fit and healthy with ActiFit - a Steem-based app which rewards you with tokens (which you can eventually use to boost your content) for being physically active. If you're already using Fitbit or a similar app, then you'll find this easy to use.
  4. Invest your Steem Power at Smart Steem and get daily rewards and earn more Steem.
  5. Earn rewards by sharing links to interesting webpages through DLike and earn Dlike tokens
  6. Exchange votes with other users with SteemEngine.Net
  7. Steempeak and eSteem both offer an intuitive way of using Steem, enhancing your user experience.
  8. Earn free STEEM through The Crypto Faucet and Earn Crypto by completing tasks and watching videos

Cheers
Neil

Danng! When I saw that you had replied to my post in the notification, I paniced thinking this was the Global Hit Parade...

I am still very excited, I will have to find it but I think my last feature only brought me to second place - being mentioned for the second time, and twice - once for reaching the top.. I know there is potential that I will one day be within reach of being featured on Global.

I'm as excited as ever, always modest but actually very proud -- not that this is like winning a lotto or anything but I came in here blogging and thinking that my work would never get noticed by inititives like this.. so when it does get noticed, I tend to feel like clamming up LOL

It was only the initial let down of realising it wasn't for the Global HP that tainted my celebration a bit.. I tainted it LOL

Mostly my fault for misunderstanding after my feature the first time - I thought you could only feature in Newcomer HP once, instead of the accurate rule which states you will become ineligible for Newcomer HP after your first feature in Global.

Thank you and thank you! I won't count chickens prematurely anymore and will learn to assume nothing so that everything is a surprise.

I've been poking at this comment for awhile now and I'm torn because I should just bite my tongue and say thanks and move on but I'm always a stickler when it comes to describing how I feel under the skin.

I just hope it is far enough away to not get mistaken as ungrateful.

I'm ecstatic and do not understand how I earned this kind of supper especially as a newcomer, but I'll take it!

I'm curious to know who holds the record for the most paid out #introduceyourself post in STEEM history.. qualifying only those works which were made within the first year of the account being opened.

Yes. I agree. Every homeless person is different, perhaps. I used to work with The Salvation Army in an outreach to the homeless in Hawaii. Also, I'm 34 and have felt very old now. I've felt like I've gone through a lot in a short period of time. That can be good. That can be an aspect to the meaning to life at a fundamental level towards the sanity of eternal perspective.
