I've heard many things about the unique Korean culture and hierarchy, like when they always ask your age when they first meet you.

Or many years ago, when even the senior female managers had to serve tea to the male in the office. Don't know if the working culture is still like that nowadays.

Office culture is interesting. I work in a conservative office place, but it is quickly getting better because of smartphones and cameras. People can't just lie and expect to win because they are older and higher rank.
Age is important here. Did you know that if you were born on December 31st, 2019, you are now 2 years old in Korea?
Everyone born in the same year is the same age and you start at 1 because it is illogical to be 0 years old and fractions wouldn't allow everyone born the same year to be the same age.
It used to go by lunar new year, but that was stopped in the 70s.

Very interesting. I think Culture is very important to understand when trying to understand people on Steemit.

Understanding the culture of others is important, especially considering the platform is monetized.

Thanks for the link to that article. I read it and chuckled throughout it. I love this part..

Moreover, throughout the meeting, shareholders were asked to “clap their hands,” to confirm key agenda -- including appointment of board members -- which many shareholders disapproved of. If a company does not have any specific policy regarding the voting process in an annual general meeting, then they are legally allowed to apply some method of confirmation that shows intent of support, such as clapping. Wow.. What a party. Did they serve drinks and sing songs too?

This is very interesting essay on Korea. I watch Korean dramas and I am interested in the culture. It’s sad to read these bad things, but the reality is money and wealth equal power all over the world. The great equalizer is money.

Money is a great equalizer, the problem is money, access to money, and even the potential to earn money are not equally distributed. Throw in investment opportunities and the inequality gets even worse.
