How some Hive-Engine tribes lose their main use case

What is the biggest use case for tribe tokens? It's the capacity to actually stake this token to give your upvotes more value and to curate posts with them.

Thanks to this feature you can obtain quite nice returns for curation that are above returns for Hive curation for example.

Creating specialized accounts to maximize curation rewards

A lot of people realized that and started to create specialized accounts for each tribe. I created for example an achim03.ctp and an achim03.leo account. I staked all my respective tokens on these accounts and I curated posts that would carry the correct tags. This allowed me to maximize my CTP and LEO curation rewards.

If you own one account it's already difficult enough to curate posts manually. If you create some specialized accounts, you try to do at least a part of the curation automatically. I was using the rewarding.app service by @holger80. The great thing about it was that I could limite the upvotes to specific tags. I could make sure that my achim03.ctp account would only upvote posts with the #ctp tag.

The problem is that this app is not working anymore and I had to move to hive.vote. Unfortunately, hive.vote doesn't allow to set tags for the upvotes. I could circumvent this problem by setting a higher vote weight multiplier in leodex.io and like that maximize my curation for CTP.

Tribes without vote weight multiplier

I wanted to optimize my curation for SPT recently and I went to leodex and was looking for the vote weight multiplier of SPT... I couldn't find it. The reason is that new tribes aren't using scotbot but a special smart contract that is now available for tribes. I don't know whether it's still possible to set vote weight multipliers for these smart contracts. At least, I don't know how it would be possible to do it.

The problem is that now without rewarding.app and the vote weight multiplier, it becomes virtually impossible to optimize curation of certain tribe tokens! This is actually not a small feat. I can't optimize curation of these tribes and therefore the main use case of some of these tribes disapears. Maybe I can keep up the manual voting for my favorite tribe but I can't do it for all of them.

This means that I have no interest whatsoever in staking these tokens! I will therefore simply sell them on the market. The effect this will have on the price of the token is obvious...

Without a voting service that allows optimization for curation of tribe tokens, the main use case of these tokens is taken away and it is very negative for the development of these tribes!

There are some services offered that allow you to delegate your tokens and get a return for it. One of them was the program by @amr008 and I just saw yesterday that he is stopping his project.

Let's say that the tribe tokens in general are in big need of a voting service that allows to limit voting on certain tags. Without it, staking rates and prices will drop quite certainly...

You are right 100% and this is something that we've always experienced and felt when needing to managed multiple accounts for different communities or make benefit of the vote multiplier. On the other side, this makes things more complex and requires more management. My solution was to focus on fewer communities and delegate some of my second layer tokens to specific curators in order to help me with that.

I think that this is what most people did. It's simply not worth the effort to curate all these tribe tokens manually. The result is that tokens are more put on the market and staking rates are reduced. In the end this reflects on the price of the tokens.

Thanks a lot for stopping by!

Hmm, I wasn't aware the new outpost interfaces don't have support for vote weight multiplier.

Or maybe they do, and LeoDex needs an update to better 'understand' the new tribes and its features.

Yes all the new tribes that are created are not visible in leodex and since they are not linked to scotbot, I don't know where it would be possible to set these multipliers. If it's possible, it would probably be somewhere in the respective front-ends.

Or maybe they have some API behind that can be used by apps.

I just went over to LeoDex. Looks like only SPT is affected regarding the missing vote weight multiplier. CTPTalk and Palnet, which both switched to outposts don't have this issue, which means it's either a configuration issue on SplinterTalk.io, or they removed the multiplier on purpose for their interface (if that's possible).

I think it's linked to the smart contract. Some tribes decide to simply migrate (CPT) and keep scotbot; others may have changed to the new smart contract. If you take for example CENT, it also has a front-end and vote weight multiplier is not visible on leodex. There is also no configuration for it: https://scot-api.hive-engine.com/config?token=CENT. If you enter SPT, or CENT into https://hiveengine.usehive.com/, you won't get any curation results either.

I don't know about CENT, but scot-api link didn't return any info for ANY token I tried, and HE Tools worked for me with SPT for curation, but not with CENT. Maybe you are right and it depends on how they chose to implement the new smart contract of which I don't know much.

Yeah, there has always been a major gap between optimizing and properly using hive and any of the tribes with a lot of it making no sense whatsoever demanding ridiculous amounts of time and being overly complex. I kind of stopped trying, I have SPT delegated to @monster-curator which works great, I have a separate @costanza.sports account that curates on auto-pilot and I haven't checked it for ages. Some of the others had a 10x Multiplier.

It all really needs to be drastically redisigned.

I agree with you. It's simply too complicated in the end to manage all these voting powers. I liked using rewarding.app because it really was 100% on autopilote. With hive.vote and vote multiplier it's necessary to reset them regularly. At the moment with tribes on scot bot, others on smart contracts, it's just a bit messy and I can understand that people refrain from curating at all. In the long term this will be very negative for the different tribe tokens.

Thanks for stopping by!

I was hoping to find a solution from your post. Looks like you also don't have one.
In SPORTS I am following one curation trail but for ALIVE I am planning to do the same. It is time-consuming to manage all the accounts.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a solution yet. I'm curating using hive.vote and vote multipliler for the tokens that allow it.

Thanks for the information. It is very interesting. I hate to see @amr008 project go but I do understand why this is happening. It would be bad for the staking rates and prices to drop.

It's a pitty that Amr008 stops his project but I totally understand the reason for. It can be really time consuming to run such a project.

Ah I didn't realize that SPT didn't have any vote multipliers. However there is always monster-curator for delegating out for returns.

Maybe it exists somewhere but I haven't found it yet lol :-)
