I think what we need is for people to want to buy hive for a reason, and keep it for the long term. We already have the Hive power mechanism which provides an incentive to keep the coins, so if having more hive power is desirable then hopefully that attracts more funds. One way might be to attract existing businesses into the ecosystem, like encouraging a company to have a rewards/incentive program using either Hive or custom coin on the hive block chain.
As with other markets, once real money starts flowing (for a reason, like in currency market export demand rising), the speculators will jump on the bandwagon and multiply the increase in demand and price.
