I quit smoking 8 days ago and feel so much healthier and energized

I quit smoking 1 week ago and never looked back

Actually it has been 8 days already, as I'm writing this passed midnight and it's officially already Monday here. When I woke up 8 days ago on Sunday morning, I decided that I wouldn't touch a cigarette again. I felt confident and I knew I was going to succeed. The image above illustrates how it was for me while being a smoker.. it's weird to realize that I'm so much clearer in my mind since I quit smoking. Of course you know that when you smoke, you are aware of the health problems that can occur over time, but never had I noticed that my mind could also be "foggy" from being a smoker.

Just a few weeks ago I already felt down and had more pain during the nights because of the colder weather

And the weird thing is, that now I quit smoking, even that has improved so much. And where I had this crash down moment around 3 pm for weeks making me fall asleep with my toddler when we were watching tv, I now have all the energy in the world. I don't only feel happy and proud that I quit smoking without looking back, but I'm so pleased to feel much more energized, happy and I can already feel my health improving in several ways. I expected to enjoy food much more within some days, as I remember from previous times that everything tastes so much better within just a few days after you quit smoking. I didn't expect this overall improvement on different things regarding my health though.

I can even handle stress situations without smoking

Normally my excuse was quite often "I'm so stressed out, I need a smoke".. and then I went outside, smoke a cigarette wondering why I did it, because it honestly didn't give me what I expected for a long time. That stress relief feeling I once had, was long gone already... It tastes horrible (let's be honest!) and no fun to always need to go outside to smoke one while you're just enjoying some Netflix time on the couch, lol.. You'd expect me quitting last week was a stress-free moment, as I got through the first 8 days easily? That's actually the opposite of the truth. My little girl has been ill the first week of preschool, and I was lucky to be the next that got ill. While that was something I could handle quite ok, it got more stressful when my daughter decided she got ill again at the end of the week. High fever, and overall in a very bad mood and very demanding made our days very exhausting.. Nights were also long and not much sleep as the little one kept waking up from the fever and coughing. Normally these days would have easily made me give in to smoking a cigarette, but I never even thought about doing so. The first days boyfriend left 1 cigarette for me, just in case I really needed to have one, but I never used it. And I'm glad I didn't... A new chapter in my life, a healthier one..

oooh, amazing @anouk.nox. Thanks for breaking the addiction. I think a big number of people are now quitting smoking, these days in my country it is rare to find a smoker. Congratulations and by the way how is your daughter doing now?
