When we talk about superstition, In Africa where I am from there are various superstitions which is strongly believed in, some of which I'd be sharing with you all today. Superstition is however considered to be a belief that future events can be predicted due to signs before the event itself.

In Africa, superstitions are taken very seriously especially by the elderly ones but with this modern age most of them are soon to be forgotten. These are some of the superstitions...

  • Bending over and looking between your legs. It is believed that when one bends over, such person is most likely to see a ghost in the form of human
  • Someone crossing over another's body. Here it is believed that when someone crosses over another, the person has to cross back the same way, if not one might loose that part of the body, yeah! You heard me right
  • Itchy palms and feet. It is believed that when one's palms and feet are itchy it signifies that money is coming the person's way, so he/she has to scratch them also depending on which part feels itchy. Reason being that sometimes it might just be only the palms and sometimes both.
  • Hitting one's leg on the way out. This is however a very popular one, which signifies danger if such person continues on that outing
  • Breaking of a mirror or glass. It signifies bad luck
  • Hitting a man with a broom. Hahaha this has always been funny to me though. It is said that when you hit a man with a broom they would loose their manhood (Dick)😶. Infact, back then in school we would always threaten to hit the guys with broom if they mess with us, they just run at the sight of us holding the broom😂.
  • Responding to a call, without knowing who called you. It is believed that when one answers such call it means that person already answered a ghost call

There are many others which I do not even know know what it means like....

  • Do not whistle at night.

  • Do not sweep at night.

  • Making your hair yourself et al.

Although, signs and warnings are good to take note of so there is no harm in being cautious, believe it or not we always have a choice.

Thank you for reading, have a lovely day ahead.
