Update - Building a bed for free / Wie bau ich mir gratis ein Bett?
| Since August 2018 I had been using a bed made of cardboard boxes. I covered making it in this post. Since I had to move out a bit more than a week ago (& a bed is provided in my new room) this was the last chance to take some pictures & to show how it worked. This is how it looked at the beginning: | Seit August 2018 schlief ich in einem selbstgemachten Bett aus Kartons. Wie ich das Ding baute, habe ich in diesem Beitrag beschrieben. Da ich vor etwas mehr als einer Woche ausziehen mußte (& in dem neuen Zimmer schon ein Bett steht), war dies die letzte Chance, noch Bilder zu machen & zu zeigen, was draus geworden ist. | & as you can see, it actually worked fine, even better than I expected. I didn't have to replace a single box. Having said that, it's still advisable to use a sheet of wood or similar on top to spread the weight better. | & wie man sieht, hat sich das Bett gut gehalten, jedenfalls besser als ich erwartete. Mußte nicht einen einzigen Karton austauschen. Trotzdem halte ich es immer noch für eine gute Idee, eine Holzplatte o.ä. draufzulegen, um das Gewicht besser zu verteilen. |

| The above shows the place where I usually sat in front of my computer. As you can see, it is quite dented. This actually made it more comfortable, though, because else the bed would have been a bit high. The picture below shows that the middle row, which is where I lay most of the time, overall is also a bit dented. My mattress was quite thin, so it was noticable, though not yet uncomfortably so. But perhaps a few months more & I would have to replace some boxes. | Das obige Bild zeigt die Stelle, wo ich normalerweise am Computer saß. Man sieht doch eine deutliche Delle. Diese machte es allerdings sogar eher angenehmer, da das Bett ansonsten etwas zu hoch gewesen wäre. Auf dem nächsten Bild erkennt man, daß die mittlere Reihe, wo ich die meiste Zeit lag, auch Dellen zeigt. Da meine Matratze recht dünn ist, war das durchaus fühlbar, zum Glück allerdings noch nicht unangenehm. In einigen Monaten hätte ich jedoch vielleicht einige Kartons austauschen müssen. |

| Anyway, I'm quite happy with how that turned out. If I do that again in the future, though, I will put something on top to more evenly spread my weight. But I'm pretty sure I won't ever again spend money on buying a bed. | Im großen & ganzen bin ich jedenfalls recht zufrieden mit dem Eigenbaubett. Sollte ich in Zukunft nochmal eins zusammensetzen, werde ich wohl auf jeden Fall etwas auflegen, was die Gewichtsverteilung verbessert. Bin mir aber ziemlich sicher, daß ich nie wieder Geld für den Kauf eines Bettes ausgeben werde. |
