The scared ant - a poem for children

Once there was an ant
who thought he was bad
he had fears
as real as life
he would always hesitate
and pause to think and stay behind
left with failures
he thought hard, one day
Why am I always behind?
then he understood
that fear was holding him back
the fear of failure
the fear of defeat
the fear of pain
and the fear that was bigger than the actual thing itself

He stood up, shook himself and shouted loud
I will not be afraid anymore
I will not stop until my goal is reached
and he smiled and marched ahead
come what may, I will not fear
I will not be defeated at all
by fear or doubt, ever again!
