Designing placemats!

(Edited)

Today I finished the first version to send of a job that I had never done in my life, the design of placemats.

It really is a job that came to me in an unexpected way. My girlfriend had done the design of the offices for a company whose business revolves around fish and a few days ago they asked her if she could also do the design of the placemats to use in the dining room. And since she doesn't have much time right now, because is very busy with other projects, she asked me if I wanted to do it. Of course I said yes and immediately got down to work.

The design of the offices that my girlfriend had made had a minimalist style, therefore the design of the placemats should follow that style.

Also in the original design basically 4 colors were used. A fairly dark blue, a lighter blue, yellow and white. The dining room space has yellow walls and ceiling and the large dining table is white.

Knowing these data, my first decisions were not to use yellow in any of the variants that I would design, to use dark blue as a background for the placemats to achieve a contrast due to the white color of the dining table. And also use the other lighter blue and white colors for the elements in the design.

I made several designs and after talking to my girlfriend and her boss, changing things in the design, talking to my girlfriend and her boss again and changing things in the design again (this process was repeated several times, it was not just two 😅) these five versions remained, which are the ones that will be sent to the client today.

Actually these placemats support any design you want, you can go to IKEA yourself to check it out 😅😂.

The idea in this case was to create something with the style and colors of the design used to create the offices, also taking into account that they are things that are going to be used in the dining room. We'll see what the client think, I honestly would like to know now 😁.

Do you like the designs I made? What is your favorite?
