Life throws curveballs. And wrenches. And awful times to balance out the good ones. Just when we think things may finally be going our way, a text message, call, or interaction can change the whole trajectory of our day, year, and even life. It's not always bad of course, but the unexpected brings uncertainty, because without knowing what the future holds, it can be hard to keep things in perspective. I know I struggle mightily with this, as someone with a Type-A personality who likes to plan every minute of every day if possible. Something I've been working to remember lately is a sentence that seems relevant for nearly every person who's ever lived.
There is no chaos in this universe, only purpose.
Throughout my shortish life, the times when I felt most lost, afraid, and uncertain of what was next ended up being the best catalysts for change that I could have asked for. This isn't to say all chaos is good in the moment, and some is especially painful and scary. But I'm a firm believer that there is meaning in every speed-bump we encounter. Life has a funny way of teaching us the most powerful lessons when we may be least ready to hear them. Closed ears can make for closed hearts if we're not careful. But the next time you feel like you have no control, remember, that's the beauty of it all.
"A Single Seed" is my attempt to get out one idea every day that I've learned or accumulated over the years, with the hope that it may stick in someone else's memory bank as well. The idea may be related to fitness, business, life, or philosophy, but I think you'll find that many can change domains if you wish them to. With each seed planted, a new life awaits.
