Cruising through Market Friday Challenge | Thai Binh Market Part 2

Who would have thought that going to the local wet market can be so interesting. And even though I've been to the same market numerous times, I still find something interesting to buy each time. Maybe it's the people, culture, lifestyle and the many unique things sold in the market.

Unlike many other proper local markets, these sellers would display their fruits, vegetables and many other provisions on the street side for people like me to buy. These provisions are either placed on baskets, boxes or sometimes just in plastic bags. Because they don't have a proper place to sell their provisions, they also don't really charge very high - after all, there's no cost at all, if you ask me.

One thing for sure, many prefer to buy from them as compared to buying from those with a proper counter inside Thai Binh Market. Even I myself prefer to buy from them as the vegetables & fruits are very fresh and affordable. Sometimes, we can find the fishmongers amongst them and there is no need to bargain because all the prices are very fair. Except pork & beef which is slightly on the high side.

If one is willing to lower down their expectations and standards, this is a good place to buy ones provisions with the limited cash they may have. Then again, there are also those who prefer to buy from the supermarket. Guess, it's really back to respective individual preference.

Which is yours ? Do you have something like this back home ?

I love outdoor markets. We have seasonal markets here, which are called Farmer's Markets. Throughout the summer you can find them all over the place on Saturdays and sometimes on a Tuesday or Thursday evening. It's wonderful to buy direct from the farmers. Lovely pictures, @ireenchew.

I am going to grab your Market Friday instructions for my post. I have not been including that in my posts!

Hi @jayna .. so glad that u dropped by
In a way these markets here are very much like the Farmer's Market like what you've mentioned.
Most of them get their provisions from the Mekong Delta provinces and sell it in the big city like here.
I prefer to buy from them rather than in the supermarkets because it's like my part of helping the economy

I really like this kind of market. Some products are really reasonable price compared to supermarket. I prefer to buy for a huge and can store in the fridge, make foods by myself :)

I agree with you! I am willing to lower my standards just a bit for a better price! Normally, things taste the same, even if the fruit or veggie isn't perfect. And then again, sometimes it is perfect.

I just love your wet market! I have market envy when you take me. :)) I think I could happily live there, without a problem. I have so much enjoyed your cultural exchange and especially when you capture the people. It makes it so much more personal.I want to thank you for taking part in the #MarketFriday challenge! The entire challenge has migrated from a stroll through a market to a cultural extravaganza. ! It really surprised me, but, also delights me to know how much effort people put into it. It pointed out our differences in the beginning, but, then, it really started showing how many things our cultures share. When the day is done, it shows off how human we all are and how we basically all care about our families and others. I love the experience of it all. I appreciate the love and support given to #MarketFriday! Thank you! Truly! Your participation adds a piece of your world, and I have to say, people are interested in is seeing it. This entire challenge has opened up the world to me and so many others. Thank you again for being a part of all this! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks so much for your kind words @dswigle
I wish I could share more proper hypermarket shopping photos but I find these markets more interesting.
There's so much culture to see and when I think I've seen it all, I find something else new.
I'm glad that I can be apart of this world and share it with everyone.

I've been wanting to share about the floating market near my city but I haven't had the chance since it's been raining daily and hard to move around. Hopefully, soon I'll be able to share that with everyone
