Mindful Monday - Starting Your Day with Mindful & Spiritual Intent

Get your day off to a good start...

setting an intention brings purpose scrabble tiles.jpg

The way I like to start my day is with an hour in my meditation studio, collecting myself, centering myself and enjoying the peace and tranquility that can be found within, preparing myself for the day.

When I begin my meditation practice I look for the strength and clarity that I might go on the path of awakening and experience Nibbannic peace, tranquillity and joy. I often think of the Peace Prayer of Saint Francis where he asks to be an instrument of peace.
Or I may look to know my own good and the good of others for my own welfare and the welfare of those around me (this is usually when I am preparing for a day working with the young children).

Some people may not care to be sitting quietly tuning into their inner being but may prefer a contemplative activity like journaling, gathering your thoughts, reflecting and getting into a creative flow.

What ever works for you to set you on the path, that you might begin to set a mindful and spiritual intent for your day.

With a mindful intent it can lead to changes you could never have anticipated. As you begin your journey toward creating a morning routine of mindful and spiritual intent, you’ll likely start to notice things happening in ways you never expected. That’s because you’re now approaching each day with a purposeful mindset.

Journaling is one of the methods I mentioned for adding to your daily intent rituals.

Here is some tips to help get you started journalling -

Or you can start off by using these or other quotes to inspire your thinking on the ways in which you’d like to build your intentional practice. Or just write down thoughts as they come to mind (this helps to build your awareness of your thoughts as they arise) or to free write anything that inspires you.

"I'm doing my best to be mindful about how I'm living: to be kind and patient, and not to impose a bad mood on somebody else." - Deirdre O'Kane

"Mindful meditation has been discovered to foster the ability to inhibit those very quick emotional impulses." - Daniel Goleman

"There are certain ways in which I cultivate awareness, both through mindful yoga and taking care of my body and taking time to actually drop as deeply as possible into stillness, into whatever is unfolding at the present moment." - Jon Kabat-Zinn

"In my own life I know that my state of cheerfulness is a reliable gauge of my level of spiritual enlightenment at that moment. The more cheerful, happy, contented and satisfied I am feeling, the more aware I am of my deep connection to Spirit." - Wayne Dyer

"It is through gratitude for the present moment that the spiritual dimension of life opens up." - Eckhart Tolle

Remember, there are tremendous benefits that come from setting mindful and spiritual intent each day. Doing so will help you to live your life's purpose authentically and to feel more in control of your words and actions. It's been shown to lower stress, increase immune system response, improve sleep and lessen anxiety, among so many other positive outcomes.

May you experience much peace and joy in your life!

My go-to for self-reflection and balance, lately, has been either cycling or archery. There is something so incredibly peaceful about shooting archery in the silence that is 10:00pm or later.

Ah yes! I can see that for archery demands a lot of focus and with the stillness of the later hours you can really focus and pick up on that stillness!

Wonderful post @porters. Something else I need to work on. I know through this practice it will help me with getting my consistency in most things on track.

Only my 2 cents worth here.
I flee camera in hand into nature early every morning. The light is too bad for photography, but I can spend an hour or two to clear my mind exactly the same as the rising sun is clearing the skies.
An awakening of my spirit to the new day and the stillness allowing my soul to be well.
I call it revival and it works for me.
Blessings!

Wonderful way to start your day with revival and greeting the dawn! It seems your intent is to clear your mind and let your soul be well - good intent indeed! Plus you get some awesome photos after the world awakens!

Thank you and indeed my friend. An empty mind can be filled with love, but a racing mind is no good to anyone. Lol
Blessings!

being outdoors, sitting on the ground or my back against a tree, that is what works for me. my feet upon the earth. I need this daily or else I feel the tension build up in my body. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us @porters xxx

I like to spend a bit of time before I enter my meditation studio bare footed, feeling the energy starting to flow through my body! It also releases the heat that has pooled up in my feet!
Beautiful way to start your day and it seems you are setting the intent to be relaxed and peaceful and perhaps one with nature - am I correct?
