[Films Critics] Limitless

I enjoy movies that take their time to build and explain a plot complicated by unknown factors, plots that do not rush to create a fast pace from the beginning but rather go step by step creating an intense atmosphere around something little known. I say this because that was something I liked most about the film Limitless, a film that presents us with such a complex premise that revolves around the power that our brains really have and, above all, the capacities that it can reach when powered by chemicals.

Limitless is one of my favorite thrillers because it has a really entertaining plot that uses the myth of the capacity of the brain to create a drama full of intensity where we see the evolution of the characters to become totally different people. The plot of this film allows us to see the life of a failed writer with concentration problems, a writer who lives a bad life full of vices and problems that lead his existence to a constant dark abyss that submerge him in all kinds of uncomfortable situations. However, this writer receives a "help" from destiny when he encounters his ex-brother-in-law and he gives him a drug that seems normal, but in reality it is a super powerful drug that increases the processing capacity of the brain allowing him to use all the capacity that he possesses; basically this drug is like a key that unlocks the true capacity that the writer's brain possesses.

Obviously the writer takes the drug and discovers its wonderful effects so he decides to go for more drugs only to realize that his ex brother-in-law has been mysteriously murdered, but of course fate smiles again and he finds and takes home a bag full of this booster drug. From then on, the life of this writer changes completely because his new potentiated brain allows him to finish several books in record time and also allows him to enter into new ways of earning money (the stock market) and thus begin to rebuild his life and quickly become someone completely different, but just when everything was perfect the life of this writer begins to stagger again when he discovers the side effects of the drug and to have been involved in something he had no information about.

Like all drugs, this miraculous pill has a great disadvantage and that is that if you stop taking it for a long time your body basically dries up and you die, which creates a circle of tremendous addiction where we will not only be dragged by the benefits of the drug but by a number of alterations caused by the consumption of it, in short, after our protagonist discovers the true essence of this drug the film changes and becomes better because we will see an intense and super dangerous career full of fascinating scenes where our protagonist will have to quickly discover everything possible about the drug and also how to overcome it, while also facing other problems concerning his new job as an adviser to a financial mogul.

The pace of the film is fantastic because it constantly changes to adapt to the different atmospheres that are created around a man who puts his life at risk not to return to the abyss from which he has just emerged, a man who uses his new intelligence to give a tremendous twist to this whole drug situation and to take full advantage of it, while rebuilding his life. This is undoubtedly a film that manages to explore in a very entertaining way all the subject of addictions and the well-known myth of 10% of the brain, all through an intense plot, dramatic and extremely entertaining full of extreme situations that will make us lose our heads for the moment by the way they developed.
