Adiwa

image.png

Adiwa one of those words that resonates with you, you know its sound and structure are perfect. "Good, tasty and quiet", synonymous with the word "Adiwa", its opposite would be everything bad or unpleasant, "Suro". (Mansutti Alejandro, January 2003).

Adiwa was going my life after opening my eyes to the wonderful world of magic, the fall of the structures was immediate, my vibration changed and my environment with it. How tasty it is to accept and recognize yourself, the tranquility comes later when you realize that you are not striving to be someone who fits in, you like to look inside and you are not uncomfortable with what you see outside. Fullness is felt with every decision you make, it is as if you have been locked up all your life in a magic lamp that takes away your powers.

The Wottüjja have a dialect that for me is a little complex because the sounds are nasal. The Sabararies (Creole) are usually called Sabarari Adiwa in game form, because it is the only word we know how to say and it is the first word we all learn. Today I'm going to tell you how I discovered the meaning of the word adiwa and how to know what it is, you have to go a little bit further into the jungle.

For three months I had been studying medicine every other day, like they do in the jungle. Every week I helped by working with the service in the ceremonies, I helped if someone needed something; sometimes there are those who have strong processes when they have lived through trauma or addictions, a couple of times I have lived the latter from the patient's place. Entering the depths of your soul can be painful, there are traumas that are still open wounds and close them depends on you.

I felt that I was born for this service, and that service has always been an impulse for my life, mainly that was the reason to enter the military world.

In the year you can go whenever you want to the jungle and grandpa will have no problem receiving you, but in the year there are some ceremonies or sacred festivals where tourists from all over are received, who are looking for healing. The date of an important ceremony called Dädä was approaching, I had set out to go and every night I would ask Chejeru through the medicine, to please help me get the money I needed for the trip.

Only 2 weeks later, working hard I had only got the money for the plane tickets, so on impulse I decided to buy them, this way I had them safe, because, as it was only one airplane flight a week, the availability was running out fast or the price increased due to readjustments of the dollar exchange rate.

I continued working and focusing on getting what I needed, the date arrived and as if by magic I was paid some debts and completed what I needed, this way I knew that my destiny was going that way, and I was about to take a flight to the place where wisdom is born.

After a Wednesday night's work, a group of people from the "yopincenter" (Fregilber's house who is a student of the shaman) left, all to the airport, 2 hours before to arrive on time, we checked in, boarded and in my case to sleep until the landscape of the mountains and rivers was revealed.

When we arrived at the airport in Puerto Ayacucho, Rafael, the oldest son of the shaman, picked us up. A group of 17 Venezuelan tourists got on a truck that left us in the community and we began to walk for 20 minutes to the high carinagua, where the old churuata of the grandfather is located.

We arrived and by unanimous decision we all ran to the river as the heat was stifling. In the jungle there are two types of weather in the mornings, either there is too much sun or the sky is falling on a day of eternal rain.

It was Thursday and Grandpa welcomed us with a Ñua ceremony where we all tuned in to the vibration of the jungle, my first night of yopo and singing, listening to Grandpa sing is a magical event, where you could see the rivers between dimensions.

The Dädä would take place on Saturday night and fasting is part of the ceremony, food and water fasting, you can only eat Caapi (Tuipa) and smoke Tobacco (Jatteh), so you had to choose how many days of fasting you wanted to do. Older people and people with experience do 4 days of fasting or more, but if you are new sometimes one day is enough to learn.

In my case I decided to stop eating after lunch on Friday, in my fast I decided to add "Talking alone is not necessary" so that I can meditate (those who know me know that I talk up to my elbows). Saturday arrived and I decided not to leave the churuata, I did not want to walk so as not to deplete my energy and thus avoid getting hungry hahaha so my plan was to stay lying in my hammock reading a book, eating caapi, smoking acurewa and sleeping.

Early on Saturday morning something interesting started to happen inside the churuata, some piaroas arrived with some branches that they selected and cut from the Dädä, they sat down with a tuff to crush the branches to extract their juice and without more my plans changed? I sat down nearby to observe the work in detail, the piaroas who took turns preparing the dädä must also be fasting.

| The grandfather while preparing the yopo for the next day's ceremony |

Even before I arrived, I had read several blogs by other medical givers, where they talked about what dädä was, a ceremony for spiritual cleansing, with which you also have the possibility to obtain a Vision of your life. A shrub-like plant that was given by chejeru to the Wottüja to heal their illnesses and to give the Meñeruwa access to the world of natural resources and to restore the balance of nature with their singing.

The grandfather's chant are prayers that give him access to the natural resources and at the same time are formulas for their multiplication and materialization. These prayers ("Meñe", hence the name Meñeruwa or owner of the chant), must be pronounced in a perfect way, the shaman must be able to sing to perfection since the abundance in the community depends on it.

Night falls and the ceremony begins, 7pm piaroas arrive from all over, as well as tourists and locals, all looking for a place to sit and another to hang their hammock. The medicine, after being prepared with prayer by the grandfather, is taken in a specific order, you should never forget who you are after, as it is important.

We pass one by one in front and the shaman gives us 4 times a tapa with the drink, when drinking it we go to the hammock to meditate and listen to the grandfather's song. We must avoid moving at all because the meditation must be done with maximum concentration, also avoiding falling asleep, believe me that the singing and darkness can take you to a very high degree of relaxation and if your goal is the search for vision, you must be alert.

The dädä cannot be spat out or relieved, and all lights must be turned off. That day we were told that the lack of light is a very important factor, you cannot use electronic devices and therefore the ceremony cannot be recorded.

We started drinking three times during the night and when the morning arrived the shaman finished his chanting and we all got up to settle in and go out to what was the next phase of the ceremony... I took a little stool and tied it to my back, put in my bag 200g of merey, a thermos with water for later and started the walk.

The shaman and his family were leading us to a waterfall. When we arrived, we organized ourselves into a wheel and waited for the test of courage to begin, which on this occasion was only the "puya de raya". All those who are interested can ask to do the test, although for this particular one, only men attend since it consists of pricking the tongue to free and purify the accumulated blood, and the women clean themselves monthly.

There are different tests, puya of ray, sting of ants and stings of bees all with the purpose of strengthening the mind and spirit of those who wish it because there is no obligation.

Once the tests are finished, we all yope in the same order in which we took the dädä, and when returning, all in a phyllite one after another we go to the waterfall where the shaman opens a portal to purify us with the bath (for the meñeruwa the waterfalls are portals of pure energy).

After this experience I knew what the word Adiwa meant. Adiwa had been the impressive night that I had spent, Adiwa had been the one who had been lapped in the waterfall, Adiwa felt my body after that bath, Adiwa was the flavor of that merey after 2 days of fasting, Adiwa was the sharing with so many brothers that after returning to the churuata we sat down to eat a banquet prepared by the daughters of the shaman.

Soon after I discovered that the future was not about months or years later, the future was about the next half hour, about the days that came. A week later I was already feeling the power of that restructuring of thought, I began to live the present Adiwa that I have to live, and without a doubt they have been the fullest days that I have had in years so I just concentrated on thanking the universe for showing me those roots that allowed me to grow internally.

When I returned to caracas I had made new friends, I met wonderful people who showed me that love can have a thousand ways to manifest itself, I returned home to structure my path and today I continue to learn and overcome lessons one at a time.

Gracias.

Y por supuesto: Adiwa!.

you learn a lot from their ways of living and connecting with the earth, I am always grateful to have this knowledge so close, here in my country very few know how lucky they are, there are people in their same city, who do not know that there is a shaman among them.

Grandpa's singing is something I can't describe with words, I have an audio with his singing, but I was looking for a way to convert it to video format to show it to you and I couldn't, I promise to show you soon, I know it will fascinate you.

"I think it's a very Venezuelan expression that refers to the fact that I don't stop talking, that I'm a very talkative person.

my face at the end of the dädä ceremony is the face i believe, we all have at the end of this magnitude of experience. without a doubt entering their world is a priceless journey.

Here I found a home and for that reason I work every day here at hive, so that they can continue to help people like me who came looking to heal a disease, and left with their lives transformed.
