First attempt in making coin purse with metal frame
Greetings to all! I'm so glad I made another post here. Let me share with you my first attempt in making a coin purse with metal frame.
So I came across and joined crochet groups in other social media platforms, and saw these coin purses being made. I thought to my self that I should give it a try. I watched for video tutorials and ordered a metal frame too. It arrived sooner that expected that I had to lend money to get the parcel. I chose the cash on delivery method of payment. The polyester yarns that I ordered has not come yet so I tried making the purse using an indophil yarn 4ply.
I kept the metal frames in my drawer which is under my table, watching and checking it every now and then because of excitement. Lunchbreak during that day I started with the project. I followed "madam charot's" tutorial tomake a base not larger than the metal frame itself.By the way, I used a 2.2 tulip double ended crochet hook. The base is simply a single crochet in back stitches only
Being satisfied with my work, I proceeded to making the body of the purse. I did rounds of single crochet, not stopping where the stitch started. Indphil yarn 4ply anf 2.2mm crochet hook makes a good combination for the purse o be stiff enough
So exciting to see how it will be when finished, I worked fast. LOLS, only few crocheters understand this feeling. I did two rounds of single crochets in the mouth part for easier attachment to the metal frame later. Now that the purse's body is finished, I digged up my extra large needles, cut a length of the same yarn divided into two and inserted it to the needle.
I held the purse and the threaded needle, Inserted the needle here and pulled the needle there then boom! a mistake. well mistakes gives us lesson, right? I left it there and continued stitching. Lucky me, did this as a practice.I just wanted to see how it looks.
I stitched enough for the meatl frame to hold into the purse, I checked and took a picture of it.
checking again, turning it around taking more pictures. I found out It was twisted. The corners of the purse did not align with the metal frame. Apart from the mentioned mistakes, It looked good.
Here are some photos of the purse closed.
Finalizing my work, i removed the ugly stitches, turned the purse to align with the frame and stitched a good stitch.
Here's my finished project! I incorporated a hand made button and did some embroidery. It doesn't look good but it will do.
Thank you so much for stopping by and Good day.
For a beginner, this is more than decent craftmanship. !discovery 20
