Sierra de la ventana; Un paraíso muy cerca de la ciudad / Sierra de la ventana - A paradise very close to the city

Sierra de la Ventana se encuentra situada a 120 kilómetros de la ciudad de Bahía Blanca (mi ciudad natal) y pertenece al partido de Tornquist.

Sierra de la Ventana is located 120 kilometers from the city of Bahía Blanca (my hometown) and belongs to the Tornquist party.

Está formado por el Sistema de Ventania (pequeña cordillera), que es un sistema de sierras del sur de la provincia de Buenos Aires y junto con el Sistema de Tandilia son los más conocidos en la provincia.

It is formed by the Ventania System (small mountain range), which is a system of mountain ranges in the south of the province of Buenos Aires and together with the Tandilia System they are the best known in the province.

Su pico más alto es el Cerro Tres Picos (literalmente es un cerro con tres picos) y su altura es de 1.239 metros, siendo el más alto de la provincia.

El nombre de la localidad se lo da el Cerro Ventana que se caracteriza por tener en su pico un hueco que se asemeja a una ventana y es visible desde la base; incluso uno puede verlo cuando se transita por la ruta.

Es un destino espectacular tanto en invierno como en verano. En esta estación las temperaturas llegan hasta los -15º centígrados

En verano también posee un gran atractivo. La ciudad es atravesada por el Rio Sauce Grande el cual es una fuente de refresco para los que gustan del agua. Las temperaturas llegan a trepar hasta los 40 grados, con lo cual el río se convierte en punto de encuentro de los turistas que visitan esta pintoresca ciudad. Es el típico lugar para ir de campamento.

Esta ciudad alberga hoy en día una pequeña población estable de cerca de 3000 habitantes. Muchos de ellos son personas que han huido literalmente de la Capital Federal o del Conurbano en búsqueda de tranquilidad y relax y por lo general abren negocios de artículos regionales.

Este destino también es elegido para viajes de fin de curso de la escuela primaria y para los festejos del día de la primavera, como así también por los apasionados del tracking. Se hacen excursiones de ascenso de los cerros Ventana y el Tres Picos; en este último se puede pasar la noche en cuevas que hay cerca de la cima.

Todos los 5 de enero se realiza la Fiesta Provincial de Reyes, donde se realiza una representación de la llegada de los reyes mayos con un show de fuegos artificiales de alto nivel. Se realiza la representación de la bajada de los Reyes Magos desde el cerro Ceferino a Caballo (ya que no tenemos camellos por aquí) y donde miles de niños se van a sacar fotos con los reyes y se lleva cada uno un pequeño regalo.

The Provincial Fiesta de Reyes is held every January 5, where a representation of the arrival of the Mayan kings is performed with a high-level fireworks show. The representation of the descent of the Magi from the hill Ceferino to Caballo is made (since we have no camels here) and where thousands of children are going to take pictures with the kings and each one takes a small gift.

Cuenta con una inmensa cantidad de atractivos turísticos entre los cuales vale destacar el Parque Provincial Ernesto Tornquist, las ruinas del ex-hotel provincial. De todos estos lugares les contaré en futuras publicaciones.
