'Rossiya' hotel - Neoxian City photo challenge
The image of 'Rossiya' (Russia) hotel located at St.Petersburg, Russia, just at the opposide of the Victory park, I want to combine for two photochallenges. On Wednesday I borrowed with me my new 16-35mm wide-lens, ideal for architecture photography... but the weather didn kissed me. It was a little bit rainy. (Thats why I added some x-processing at photoshop, to give more intresting light to the images).
taken with Canon 5d, 16-35mm 2.8L especially for the contest.
natural lighting, + some colour grading added in photoshop.
I started taking the pics from a long distance, while walking thru the park. The perspective is great, I couldnt stop myself from triggering the shutter -- considering the fact I was on a bike... it looked funny: I rode a few meters, stand by, off the bike, took a pic, and ride another 10 meters
:)
This old soviet fountain (made in 1970-es) is defunkt, unfortunately. But its still very picturesque, and a great fun for children who use to run around it!
The actual address, where the hotel is located, is the Chernyshevskogo Square; I have a great archive image for it, and one day I gonna dedicate my whole Wednesday Walk to this little spot -- I hope it will turn into something special. (In brief, Mr.Chernyshevsky (whose monument decorates the square) was a famouse Russian political writer back in XIX century).
What an interesting place with so much history a bit and f a pity the fountain is no longer running
Cool to see shots with a 16-35 the next lens I am considering getting is a 17-28 2.8 lens
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)
не из Nik Collection пресет взят для коррекции?
Типа аналоговой обработки.
Хорошо получилось)
нет. пресет для X-Process есть, но не оттуда, он забит у меня в экшен-скрипт, а результат все равно ручками. @bambuka
согласен, любой пресет всё равно доводишь руками)
!BEER
да, аналоговость присутствует, типа немного увел в сторону старого оттиска - цветного, советской печати, выцветшего. ну или так я вижу этот оттенок :)
да, примерно так и есть :-)

Fun series of photos! I was trying to remember which hotel we stayed in when I was in St. Petersburg 20 years ago, but I don't think it was this one.
o, you visited my place!! did you make any pics?! would be curious to have a look.

Back in the days of film-1995 I spent a few days in Moscow, but most of my visit was in Sergiev Posad. We then took the night train from Moscow to St. Petersburg and spent a few days there before flying home. I have traveled to many cities around the world, but St. Petersburg remains the most beautiful city I have ever been to.
This was a welcome celebration when we arrived at the hotel in St Petersburg
to me this looks like a northern part of the city, probably not its historical center. but not sure. and it seems, you have been here before me -- I moved here back in 2003, when I got acquainted with my wife... Moscow is my native.. was nice to hear this bit of your story. tnks! @melinda010100
We did a night-time boat tour and visited the Summer Palace and the Winter Palace. We went to a concert at the Winter Palace.
I loved Moscow, too. The subway is so incredible.
so true! I forgot about this, probably I could not answer better than you, to this question, what is the best things about Moscow. nowadays its damn hard to answer this question, almost impossible (for me). @melinda010100
My daughter in law is from Sochi and her family is in Nalchik. They get to visit occasionally and the last time they were there they shared photos from the new Faberge museum. Is that in Moscow? It looked fabulous.
Faberge museum is located at count Shuvalov Palace at St.Petersburg, as I just googled out. never been there... theres a lot of museums here I never entered (yet). I just live here :)
@melinda010100
Ahhh, that makes sense. One of the last trips there they spent a week in St. Petersburg being tourists.
