More #newsteem data - downvotes / content / Bots

avatar

More charts in relation to downvotes, SP usage, bot usage, and lists of authors and posts with large pending payouts but little engagement.

I'm trying to add a little more to 1, 2, and 3, each week, but the general format is mostly the same.

The chart below shows the number of downvotes and total SP going into downvotes, using the weight of each vote and the SP owned by the voter. As the SP is calulated with today's STEEM per MVESTS, the older the data the more inaccurate it is - a month shouldn't make too much difference though.

e.g. If a voter had 1000 SP and cast a 50% downvote, that would be 500 SP added to the days total.

Through the date range above, around 50 million SP worth of downvotes have been issued daily on average, this figure rises to over 90 million on average over the past 7 days. Downvote average numbers are 3147 (whole date range above) and 3545 (past 7 days).

Considering the fall in Bid-bot usage (shown later), I think the numbers are holding up well - perhaps other downvote destinations have been located, and these are proving a little harder to persuade in taking a #newsteem approach.

Top pending payouts with less than 3 comments

Whilst the entries on the lists below by no means assures the content is of low quality and deserves less reward, the lists provide at least one angle (engagement) into the value of content.

The list below is all posts > $30 pending payout that have less than 3 comments.

The '@' has been left out of the link - you will need to add the '@' before the username

Bid-bots

A chart showing STEEM transfers (memos starting with 'https') to some of the more popular bid-bots.

The total daily sends in STEEM to the bots listed in the chart above.

Looks to have leveled off to 4000-4500 a day over the past week.

Downvotes given by out by the same Bots since the 20th August.

Everyone had a day off on the 2nd September.

Buildawhale looks to be the most consistent, averaging 2.502 on the days downvotes were issued.

OCDB and Promobot joining in but many other Bots have given little to no downvotes out...

Have a good weekend,

Do you know what they DV's were for?

Every DV brings rewards back to the pool to be shared with everyone :)

Sounds like retaliation. Not ideal but to be expected some of the time :/

Would be amazing to have your charts in a live updated websites. flagzone.com or something.

If you want people to do something you have to make it as easy for them as possible. So, if you're looking for more down vote curation of bullshit posts then this seems like a way that shouldn't be too hard to put together.

Yes it would, and expect live charts will come from somewhere in time. I don't have the resources (and perhaps skill) to put a dashboard together at present - perhaps steemworld or steempeak could integrate some of the above with DAO funding in the future.

I feel it's normal to get downvotes back from small or new players but it's pathetic to see the counter downvotes from the big players or writers who act like they really care for steem. It happened to me 2 days ago. I hope you don't mind linking that post because such it's better to know such characters. Steem has become so discouraging for me day after day.

https://steemit.com/steem/@pennsif/the-steem-news-10-september-2019#@katteasis/pxncgm

I don't even want to write an article, post-photography from busy because it gives me a small upvote a day. there is nothing new with #newsteem. Same old story but slightly a different narration.
It's been long time since I've last engaged with you. I hope you are having nice time.

Retaliation flags are frustrating as it's likely the downvote would not arrive to your content if you didn't downvote theirs. I guess it's best to move on keep producing the content.

Yes things are OK thanks, considering i'm no longer living in the sunshine :) Thanks, you too.

I learned a new word today "retaliation", thanks for adding it in my vocabulary. Why have you moved to a different place? assuming winter is yet to come in UK.

You are getting discouraged by the 4 lame downvoters, when there is so much positive support for that post?

You are focusing on the wrong things!! Negativity breeds negativity - you need to focus on the positive and let that feed your motivation. Laugh at the downvoters as they are obviously jealous or just on some stupid auto-downvoter trail for no reason but to feel cool.

I had someone comment one of my posts that it was well down and great original content, but literally 10 minutes later some downvoter came along and left their displeasure on that same post without a word of explanation.. but I just laughed at them. When there are comments to support the upvotes but downvoters can't even be bothered to leave the reason they are opposing, why should I even let them occupy my mind?

The universe gives you what you want, and if you dwell with negative energy about something, the universe thinks negativity is what you want and will keep giving you move of it.. So think about what you want the universe to bring you :)

Where did I tell that I am discouraged with that 4 downvotes? Sorry, I don't read further....

Oh, you seemed to be talking about downvotes being given to a post undeserving and linked to the post, the post you linked had 4 downvotes, so that's what I was referring to.

(Edited)

I linked a comment, and I didn't mind those downvotes at all because that's not related to the post. What I tried to show is an example of how even a well-known steemian go mad when he gets the downvotes which is pretty much in the system as a separate downvote pool, in opposite how he/she promoting #newsteem. I get flags before and after that and I don't go crying. If you have noticed that post was featured on steemit and that user gets featured almost everyday shilling "newsteem" things on his/her post but can't accept the small downvote(pretty much a feature of newsteem) and choose to flag-back. That was my point.
Again it's just an example and it's not just only about me.

It wouldn't be an issue for me if it was from you or anybody else who is just a normal blogger(as I am) here, not a steem shiller or so-called well-wisher.

The story goes like this I downvoted his steem related post with my 2-3 cents power and he immediately came to downvote two of my post and when I commented a screenshot about how he became butthurt, then he immediately buried that comment with his alternative account(s) to hide his behavior from others, the above link is of that comment.
I cannot deny the fact that it discouraged me to use my downvote power again.

I apologize - the way my I Love SteemPeak* extension handles comment links (well, links in general) is actually incompatible with @steempeak's comment URL scheme, so what happened was your link routed me to the Original post, and there happened to be downvotes there so it didn't occur to me that I was viewing the wrong post.

OCDB just switched over to full curation which is really big

Bernie recently went white hat too

Hopefully we're gaining ground and can make honest voting the dominant form of behavior on here

Yes I saw OCDB were no longer taking bids but there does seems to be a few Bots hanging in there for now, and a handful still resistant to change even though it's costing them dearly.

Overall very promising, thanks.

Need to look at the SP delegated to the bots, including the aggregate. If that is shrinking then the bots are shrinking. The number of bots doesn't matter that much. The total amount paid to bots is a useful metric but it combines size of the influence (SP used for voting) with ROI, so it is a bit less clear.

I agree, delegations over time would be an interesting indicator and I'll have a look at surfacing this data. From what I remember, the SteemSQL table for delegations is tricky to organise but perhaps I can call on some help. Thanks.

Bernie going white hat is a big accomplishment of #newsteem, especially since by the time I joined he started going to the dark-side and something about randowhale.

The number of downvotes have been decreasing slowly, not sure if this is because there is less abuse on the blockchain or if it is because the "hype" is slowing down, probably the first reason because it seems that the amount of STEEM sent to the bidbots is decreasing too

Is it wrong that I look at some of these charts and I'm trying to trace trading patterns xD

There has been some changes from the circular voting and so less flags have been going there as well on the (lack of) promoted posts.

I wouldn't trust the above for trading a bag of peas :D

That little pest coininstant is still around downvoting people for no reason. How do you downvote a 9/11 memorial post? I just don’t get it.

But seeing it was featured on steemit just because someone of steemit found it "Amazing" is something odd and a slap on the face of "decentralization". I am not being disrespectful to your and my words has not to do anything with your content.

Steemit is not decentralized. STEEM, on the other hand however, is. Steemit can do whatever it wants with its frontend to try and draw eyeballs, just like any other Tribe can.

but they promote it as decentralized and censor-free, also coininstant is muted or blocked by steemit, pretty much a reson for someone downvoting everything favored by steemit I guess.

I think the latter will be judged by a rise in price which will being the people - I'd rather it be the other way around but at present I don't think it will be.

The charts speak volumes! Thanks for making these.

Also, I've always wondered how the top earning authors/posts looked. It'll be interesting to see how the new changes play out over time.
