Ancient stone vault

Hello to all dear friends.

As you know I am fascinated by the ancient buildings.

Today the challenge was to represent with a watercolor painting a huge all-round arches vault of the 16th century.

A stone vault formed by giant arches at full-rise.

The curvature of the arches rests on large stone plinths that act as supporting pillars.

In this diagram we observe the typical systems of Roman construction.

What I wanted to highlight with my watercolor is the strength of the structure, but also the warm color caused by sunlight on the stones.

A remarkable construction work, the main arch of which measures at the base the diameter of 10 meters.

In addition to the large wooden doors I also painted the limestone peels of the floor.

This huge vault overlooks a small garden of the convent cloister.

With different color toality I created the lights and shadows.

I tried to make the magical and luminous atmosphere of the day with the dark contrast of the interior of the architectural environment.

All tothed with the aging of building materials.

Antica volta in pietra

Ciao a tutti cari amici.

Come sapete sono affascinato dalle antiche costruzioni.

Oggi la sfida è stata quella di rappresentare con un dipinto ad acquarello una enorme volta ad archi a tutto sesto del 16° secolo.

Una volta in pietra formata da archi giganti a tutto sesto ribassati.

La curvatura degli archi poggia su dei grossi plinti in pietra che fungono da pilastri di sostegno.

Quello che ho voluto evidenziare con il mio acquarello è la forza della struttura, ma anche il colore caldo causato dalla luce solare sulle pietre.

Una notevole opera edilizia, il cui arco principale misura alla base il diametro di 10 metri.

Oltre ai grandi portoni in legno massello ho dipinto anche le scorze di pietra calcarea del pavimento.

Questa enorme volta affaccia su un piccolo giardino del chiostro del convento.

Con differenti toalità di colore ho creato le luci e le ombre.

Ho cercato di rendere l'atmosfera magica e luminosa del giorno con il contrasto scuro dell'interno dell'ambiente architettonico.

Il tutto condito con l'invecchiamento dei materiali da costruzione.
