Hello steemains!

Today, I want to show you the finished work of drawing I have been working on for almost two weeks. It's a big piece which I did with pencil on a cardboard paper.

Drawing with Pencil using cardboard paper can be challenging because of its smooth texture. The paper doesn't retain graphite easily. So one needs to exercise extra patience in order to see ones work through.

The pencils are 2B, 6B pencil and soft charcoal pencil. The work was done on a cardboard paper.

I usually start my drawing by making harmonious light strokes repeatedly and cross over with another strokes with graphic pencil (2B) and graphite 4B. Thereafter, I use a more darker pencil (8B) to increase the tone after which I blend with ear bud and appy 12B pencil in areas that are dark to give it a very dark tone.

However, in this one, I chose not continue with 8B and 12B pencils but Charcoal pencil which covered the two processes and gave more dept to the work.

Below are thorough explanation of my processes

Step 1

Outline sketching: This is the first stage. I skeched out my model using freehand method. After sketching, I cross checked the work by comparing my sketched work the reference photo to see if there is any error. The sketched work need to have a little resemblance before you proceed to the next stage.

Step 2

Hair - I focused on working on her hair before. This is what will bring out the beauty of the work so I took time deal with it.

Step 3

Face - Here, I worked from left to right, up to down adding tones and values.
I made harmonious light strokes repeatedly and crossed over with another strokes using graphite 2B and 6B. Thereafter, I use a more darker pencil which is charcoal pencil to over lay it.

Those dark areas seen on her eyes and eyelashes were done using charcoal pencil.

Step 4

Face completion - After completing the face and neck with the process in step 3, I blended and repaded the process once again. This gave it a cool feel.

Wow, the detail in this is amazing. It's making my fingers itch for a pencil ❤️ And I'm loving the lighting in her braids. Did you show her the finished product? What'd she think?

Thank you bro. I am yet to show her. Just bought a frame to frame the work before I present it to her.
