A Sunday Trip!

Join us on a trip to a market at a wine estate near the mountains!

It is Sunday and after church we usually stop off somewhere before heading home.
In this case we headed to the famous Lourensford Wine Estate as their Sunday Farmer's Market has opened again for the summer. The amazing thing is that their food is fresh, as the ingredients are sourced from the surrounding farm suppliers and a big plus is that they also grow their own food.
Let's have a look!

Right, here we are on our way early morning!

rjmv5v.jpg

The first sight as we entered, small kids playing at some fountains!
It is hot today, but thankfully the wind is also driving clouds across the sun!

fme3vm.jpg

A beautiful ballerina figure of art on our walk into the market!

of953v.jpg

Here we are at the entrance to the market and the mountains form a lovely backdrop to the picture!

18ofzr.jpg

As you can see, the place gets very busy and the seating areas were crowded!

5w3snk.jpg

A local band was playing cover music of top hit songs!

zmgg9y.jpg

A range of food stalls, local and international, occupy the sides and the back of the huge space under the roofs.

8awn1i.jpg

We bought this from an Italian stall and it's called "Piadina Wrap" Basically an Italian flat bread with a filling!

r89hkw.jpg

The locals call it the place of a thousand languages, as the place is swamped by tourists.
The market hums with foreign accents.
They also buy the wines that are produced here as gifts for friends in their home countries.

d3o8nr.jpg

A wire ballerina sculpture that we saw on our way out!

cnws0i.jpg

Some youngsters were busy hooking up to a zip line for a ride between the high trees!

3u6u6q.jpg

We also saw this hiking group of youngsters as we left the market.

0kix32.jpg

Finally, just a show of the moon on the road back to our home!

And That's All Folk's!

Thank you for joining us on the trip here in the Western Cape Province of South Africa,
The area that we visited today is filled with a plethora of wine estates and wine farms and there are also many other kinds of farms around.

Should you wish to see more in the case of planning a visit, I have placed some links below for you to have a look!

Okay, proper comment time - what a wonderful way to spent a day! It's bitterly cold in my little corner of the world today, so I really appreciate the sights from your summery meander. The view in that first shot is amazing, and as a former ballet dancer (until I was 13...lol) I love that you found not one, but two ballerinas. And I'm sure I've mentioned before how much I love moon photos - you got a great capture! Thanks for sharing your Sunday with us, Sir Stephen!

You are indeed a blessing and please tell me sometime what this "tipu" magafter means Lady Traci.
I am glad that I could bring you some warmth and thank you also for your kind friendship. I used to date a ballerina years ago and you guys certainly endure strenuous training, blistered toes and what not.
Hope that you keep warm.
Blessings and thank you!

It means that since I'm one of the (many...lol) curators for TipU, I can call the bot to curate a post - at the level I'm at, I can only do it once a day, which is probably why you haven't encountered it yet. Yep, it was certainly tough training, but the beauty of the dance more than makes up for it. Hope you stay cool as well, and you're very welcome, dear man! 😊

Okay thank you, so it's a bot and it curates posts without asking anyone to buy votes. I have never bought a vote in my life on steemit and I don't intend to, but if it is only a friendly bot then it's cool.
My one grand daughter won the national championships in a form of athletic dancing and I am convinced that the child has some octopus DNA,as she can bend over backwards with her feet next to her ears. Scary stuff!
You are right about giving it all for the beauty of the dance my friend.
Blessings!

Yes, that's exactly it. @cardboard (the person behind @tipu) decided to start a semi-manual curation project for #newsteem. The curators rise in the ranks, depending on how well they curate (which is why I'm down on the bottom of the list after not being active for a bit), but no one "pays" to have a post upvoted. I think it's a wicked cool way to use the bidbots for good! 😊

Wowsers, your granddaughter sounds like an amazing dancer! I've seen some of those moves during dance competitions and I agree - there must be some octopus DNA involved somewhere...lol!

Bright blessings to you and yours!

Indeed a great use of the bots for curation purposes. I guess they have to follow the money and curation has become the big thing here.
The little girl and her parents are moving to London next year February, as she was invited by some big dance academy. I say little, but she is 14 years old and have many adventures awaiting her!
I will be sad to see them go, but it is the best for them and I will never stand in their way.
Hope that you have a good week my friend.
Blessings!

Tbh it is really getting hectic as days are passing by in terms of food. While as from where I am it is getting typical in a way in various situations but nevertheless, it's really great to pass the time nicely in a lazy Sunday. Liked the images and the moon was pretty cool btw.

Looks like a nice outing and a cool market, most of the water features and parks here are now closed so the pipes do not freeze

A great market my friend, during the winter here they only close the places to do maintenance and upgrades.
Our winters are not cold enough for the pipes to freeze.

The rest close down

We are now into the 3rd day of rain and not seeing the sun nor moon, really hoping rain reaches areas where it is desperately needed. South Coast is all green again and have now had around 100 mm Stephen.

Thanks for sharing beautiful Sunday you had outdoors, never get bored with photography of mountains.

Our Lord's abundance knows no bounds my dear friend and yes, we do indeed ask for rain in the parched parts of the country, but history shows that it occurred regularly over time. So sad that mankind and beast have to suffer the extremities.
Glad that you place is green again and we are also overcast here today and waiting for the rain tomorrow.
I have some amazing two day flowers here on the succulents, the fourth and biggest one popped out in full bloom this morning in a stunning pink with a yellow throat. Sadly tomorrow afternoon it will be gone until next year.
Hope that you guys have a good week.
Blessings!

Flowers that blossom for 1 night or 1 day are normally spectacular, look forward to seeing photo's.

Sitting with 2 dogs in the house, my late brothers little guy in "day creche" with me, had heavy lightning yesterday afternoon, so just in case I suggested I have him since both these adopted little boys are terrified of noise.

Have an awesome new week Stephen.

O shame for the mutts and Troy is also not fond of lightning.
I heard that more lightning storms are on your way and that 4 people died from strikes already.

People get caught out in the open, sadly many do not realize the danger of standing under trees.

Dogs are terrified when storms come over, we do give them herbal tablets to try assist with the stress they endure.

Just shows that the fault lies with us Lady Joan.
I just cannot understand why the dangers are not taught at rural schools and why the government can't get their "ministers" to keep the communities informed. This is not the first time and it won't be the last time that somebody gets killed by lightning standing under a tree!
Blessings!

Thank you Lady Lizelle, the great thing that I love about that wine farm is that it has the backing of both the Hottentots mountains and the Helderberg mountain. A beautiful place indeed. The food is also great.
