Wood Cube Painting Demos

It's cube night. This week I was painting wooden cubes. Burned, clean, and varnished wood.The varnished wood was made with the clean wood as a base that's why in the following process gifs the first frame of the varnish gif is the clean wood image.

This one was pretty fun. An interesting shape and lots of texture. Those are the ones I can just sit back and get into a pretty zen zone rendering. It's probably boring to watch, but ehh, that's what they signed up for.

For this one, I started in 2D to create the wood pattern, then distorted each plane into place for all the sides of the cube. After that it was mostly touch ups and the overall lighting.

Here I cheated a bit and started with the clean wood as the base, then through a series of color adjustments got it to look more like varnished wood. Once I was satisfied with that I just painted the reflections.
