I'm mostly concentrating on making my posts so that I finish what I am doing before my body gets sold for hamburger meat :) and I am starting a new community which I hope will benefit many of the poorer people of this world, but thanks for mentioning it. Maybe some day.

Cool stuff... drop us a message when you get your project up and running... I had an idea about 2 years ago for a similar project (using real-world fiat to feed it here on Steem)... unfortunately the drop in STEEM price makes it a little difficult to realise any meaningful real-world benefit... but that won't last forever ;-)

I have not used discord for 2 years - I joined because somebody asked me to...after our first chat, I went back to try again and I was not allowed in as (they said) my ip had changed and they wanted my email and a cell number. I had recently read that discord was caught selling chat data to marketing companies, which explained why they wanted my details again (otherwise, why would they care about my ip changing, what with so many people using wifi at coffeeshops?)

I can, if you want, give you my proton mail which is encrypted, so no one else can read. Are you on Gab? They also have a chat line, but it is totally encrypted. Never used it but can see I might go for it one day soon.

I think it is not just the actual dev work - I need to talk with someone who understands how it all works so that I choose a safe but easy way for the buyers, so would love to chat with you. A pity you are not in the same area, I'd enjoy talking over a coffee or beer [the real stuff, not this stuff on line] :)

You technically didn't share anything from instagram. I'm guessing, when you went to post, you forgot to hit the 'share page' button. When you don't tap that, it'll simply just post whatever you have written in the Title and Content boxes. I've done it too :P unknown png 1920×1080 2.png

Ah... thanks @enginewitty... just tried another... and it worked.

So AltYes doesn't actually share the content in the URL being shared, but rather just a link to the content (with a summary)?

hmmmm... I like that (and useful for so many other reasons)

... but is there a way to optionally NOT share a link to the original, but actually "cross-post" (i.e. repost or 'duplicate' the original images) from IG/Whatever, but allow editing of the original text?

To my knowledge, yes. I haven't personally tested it (and probably should) but we had that written in. You would need to know the URL of any image you intended on using, but you should be able to edit everything. Just be sure to tap save once you do.

As for share the original content, no it does not. A link and we allow people to write their own description/reason for sharing a specific thing. Kind of like a resteem with many more benefits LOL at least when sharing to Steem. If you shared your Steem post to say twitter, it will have different specs, like the character count.

Yeah... I noticed that... thanks \m/ ... but that really just edits the 'summary' displayed when linking to the original post.

I was looking/hoping for a Share2Steem replacement though. i.e. Share the media (images/video) from other platforms (IG/YouTube mostly) and then use the original text from that post as the default text in a new Steem post (which is then editable).

Thanks for responding though... I get where you guys are going with the project... and I like it (solves the duplicate content SEO penalty problem that other blog->Steem apps may have... might even start blogging on my own blog again now ;-))! ...

p.s. Adding "Share2Steem alternative" functionality to AltYes would be really useful too ;-)

We opted against it for the reason you said and also to steer away from plagiarism as one would have to be original in their description. And you're welcome :)
