What Does Decentralization Mean To Me? | Initiative

This apparently is a very difficult question, and I believe everyone has his own idea of decentralization. I looked up this generic description on the internet, and am putting it hear so you can see what some people think decentralization is:

"In a decentralized organization, lower levels in the organizational hierarchy can make decisions. An example of a decentralized organization is a fast-food franchise chain. Each franchised restaurant in the chain is responsible for its own operation."

Of course in this example we have the question, what about the employees, do they have any say?

So to me decentralization is just an organization that does not have a central authority or somebody who calls the shots, decisions are made by everyone.

But here I have to disagree with the concept of decentralization, like democracy, like communism, it is a Utopia, there will always be a central authority, it can be one person or several or maybe a group, but a complete decentralization is not possible. The best you can get is what you have in the US a representative republic where you vote for someone to represent you, this of course is fallacious because your representative always ends up backing interests that are not the interests of the people who voted him in.

We can see that on Steemit, the top 20 witnesses do not represent the needs or wants of the majority, instead they represent their own interests and those of what we could call an elite. Now we would have to weigh in if this is better than being controlled by just one person, in this case Mr. Sun. Yes, I would rather have more than one person take decisions, so I would go with the witnesses, but not holding my breath expecting them to be on my side.

In the end decentralization is practically impossible because we always end up with a group of people who will push through their own agenda. And I would think a decentralized organization would represent the absolute majority not an elite few. So again I think decentralization is a pipe dream.
