My first postcard from my social experiment

I received my first postcard from my social experiment!
PSX_20191023_202930.jpg

A month ago I started a social experiment and offered to send postcards to Steemians. You can check out my original post here. A week later, I sent out 7 postcards around the world.

Some of the Steemians were very kind and offered to send one back to me, that wasn't part of the original social experiment but I was very grateful for their kindness.. A couple of days ago, I received my first postcard from @dfinney from the States. She's from Seattle, a city that I've never been before, and hence don't know much about. The only thing I know is Starbucks is from Seattle, which @dfinney reminded me in her postcard. Hubby has been before, and says Microsoft, who we all love and hate, is from Seattle, and that Bruce Lee, Hong Kong's king fu legend is buried there.

I haven't Googled Seattle because I want to give my impression of it from the postcard.

So, Seattle looks like an interesting city. There's a mix of modern skyline and an older side which looks really quaint. Like a lot of cities, it also has a tower, I like how the exterior looks like its being held up with suspenders!! In one of the images, I can see the snowy mountains in the background, and in another image, it's by the sea. I'm embarrassed to say, I don't know the exact location of Seattle, without Googling, I'm going to say it's somewhere north of New York. Either way, in Chinese fung shui terms, it's good to have mountains and water by you.

The US stamp on the post card is very interesting. It's round, first time I've seen that, but its been a long time since I've seen stamps. I think a lot of stamps are self adhesive like stickers now. I reckon this is as well because the edges aren't torn, otherwise it would be a nightmare to tear these off the sheet. My botanical knowledge is as bad as my US geography so I'm not sure what plant this is. It looks like a Christmas plant, the ones you get around Christmas time.

So this my impression and review of Seattle. How did I do @dfinney? As a thank for sending me the postcard, I've set a 10% beneficiary of this post to @dfinney. And by the way, I hope you like my postcard ^_^

If you would like to receive a postcard from me in Taiwan, please drop me a message on Discord livinguktaiwan#6787 with your address. Details can be found here. Hopefully some more people will take up my offer.

Ooo! I love how you tried to guess things about the city from only the photos. 😍

Let’s see. Seattle on the US west coast. Near(ish) to the Pacific Ocean and a 3 hour drive south from Vancouver Canada. To the east of the city is a tall mountain range filled with dormant volcanoes. The mountains are snow covered all year. To the west of the city is Puget Sound (salt water). Then the Olympic Peninsula (which has a rainforest and more mountains). The ocean is on the other side of the peninsula.

Famous Seattle things... Starbucks, Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon... grunge music 😉 (The bands Nirvana and Pearl Jam).

Bruce Lee is buried here!

(Ugh... dumb side ways photo!😄)

The stamp is of a poinsettia the Christmas plant. I am not sure why it is on the international stamps.

This was super fun! ❤️

Oh no!!! I got the location mega wrong!!!! Washington was what threw me from the postcard 😱 I will never forget where Seattle is now

I have just googled Seattle on the map now and all your descriptions makes perfect sense. If I were a bird, I just need to fly straight east to get to you!!!

And thank you for the Bruce Lee photo!

Thanks Carrie. I know what you mean, getting stuff through the post is so nice especially when it doesn't ask us for money or we didn't have to pay for it in the first place. Would you like a postcard from Taiwan?
