Squirrel for Dinner

We didn't eat him, he just kind of dropped in on us for a visit!

A long time ago, we converted the garage into a second living room; part of this conversion was adding a fireplace.

Almost 20 years ago, we had a flood that got into the house, and as part of the renovation, they bricked over the fireplace.

About 6 years ago, we had another flood of biblical proportions, and it shifted the foundation of the house by a little; opening some chinks into the interior which have got us plenty of visits from our furry friends like rats, and not so furry friends like snakes.

In any case, we occasionally, in the winter, have a squirrel get trapped in the sealed off chimney, from which it gets into the attic nad makes a hell of a racket before finally using it's peabrain to escape.

Tonight, right before dinner, I heard that scrabbling, scratching noise from the ceiling in the living room, and decided to shut the door to the living room while we ate. I really hate tree rats, but I am under familial order to not shoot, trap, or poison these filthy rodents.

And in the middle of dinner, I hear THUMP from the living room. "What the hell is that?"

I go look, and there is a squirrel racing from window to window, ramming his idiot self against the pane over and over before giving up and doing the same thing at the next window over. I should have taken video, but I was laughing so hard it would have never been taken clean. I go open the outside door, start shushing him to get him to calm down, and he finally bolts for the open door.

I think it's pretty obvious how he dropped in. ;>
