The water element

I was raised in the south suburbs of the city of Athens, only a few hundreds meters away from the beach and I spent all my childhood vacations on a Greek island (most of them on Crete). So as a child, I was very familiar with the water element in the form of the sea but I hadn't see any lakes at all!

It was only natural when, as an adult, I visited Trichonida, the largest natural lake in Greece, I was mesmerized by it's beauty! Don't get me wrong, I love the sea and I feel very lucky that I was born in a country surrounded by amazing beaches but the lake gives a completely different vibe and it was completely new for me!

I arrived there around noon and spend the rest of the day wandering around, taking pictures and enjoying the calming scenery. The glorious sunset was the cherry on the top of an unforgettable day!

After a good night's rest at the nearby town of Agrinio, I moved north to the artificial lake Stratos witch is made for the generation of hydroelectric power. And although the facilities of an hydroelectric plant is not the most beautiful sight, the nature around it, is healing fast, adapting the huge amount of water that was led there.

I spent around a week in the area working for a Greek travel magazine. A truly memorable week, mostly because of the catalyst impact of the abundant water element all around!
In the last picture you can barely discern the town of Agrinio under the black ominous cloud but still spattered with light!

I understand you very well.
I also grew up among rivers and lakes with cedars and Christmas trees, and then the first time I saw the sea and palm trees. It was wonderful.
Now the last 10 years I have been living on the sea, and now I miss the rivers and lakes.

Truly a magical place! Stunning photography, especially the golden shot with boat. I am collecting photos like that on the Pinterest, so I added to my collection 😊
