VISIT PORTUGAL_ Chaves #3 (Portugal)

This will be the last post on the riverside, the fact is that Chaves built his city a lot to think about the Tamêga River,
Today I will introduce you to the main bridge in Rio, still from the time of the Romans.
One of the main icons of the City is the Trajan's Bridge.
The Roman bridge over the River Tâmega is the most important legacy of the empire to “Aquae Flaviae”.

It was completed in the time of Emperor Trajan, between the end of the 1st century and the beginning of the 2nd century AD. It is a remarkable engineering work, about 150 meters long. The 12 visible arches are perfectly round and formed by huge and robust granite staves. However, there are at least six more arches buried by the buildings, on both sides of the river. In the middle of the bridge, two epigraphic documents of an honorary nature are implanted in tribute to the flavian people and the ten peoples who helped in their construction. This bridge is the most characteristic ex-libris of Chaves.

It served as the main access to the city through the Madalena neighborhood until the 50's of the 20th century, when the Engº Barbosa Carmona bridge was inaugurated.

Currently, it is closed to traffic functioning only as a pedestrian bridge.

Recently, this appropriate place for the placement of locks was placed, so the government managed to find a place to place them without damaging other places or being scattered.
Well I went there to put mine =)

what is more curious is that keys have their encando, and whoever passes by is not indifferent I considered the riverside to be finished, but just wait until the castles and the mituos appear, I still have so much to tell you, probably from the most rich in history that I have known and with the best requalified ancient monuments that I had seen
I hope you enjoy
